IrishHarrington
We are over halfway through the season 7 games back of the Nationals who may or may not be real , 5 games behind the Braves who will be getting several top flight pitchers back from the DL. Maybe I am feeling down after another horrible homestand and two months of bad play but i think the Marlins going to have a real hard time making a run given their schedule , and inconsistent play. With the Devil Rays being the sole exception the Marlins have struggled with teams they are clearly better than and the first half of the season the schedule was more conducive in theory towards establishing a lead in the East ,the Marlins failed to do that and now probably have to win 48-50 out of the remaining 77 (I think games). Something just feels off with the Marlins whether it be scoring 2 runs or less in half of our games or the curious moves McKeon has made. Seriously every move he makes blows up his face. This team feels exactly like last years team another 82-84 win team . Hopefully something is done soon ....Hopefully the Marlins start playing like they should be playing, but with their upcoming schedule they have their work cut out for them to make the playoffs. MiaFLSurf
Nope. I love the Marlins but they wont make it this year....too inconsistant. Next year we have the possibility to do so. I see a fresh start in the rotation and a few guys having a chance to fit in with a steady lineup. But this season will be like last.....a cocktease and then dissapointment
MarlinsFan253
We can never be sure until we get there. I don't want to guess.
TheMothman
They way there playing we won't make it and we don't deserve it. I rather see the Nationals there who have worked there asses off instead of us who are just sitting back and getting ourselves into a deep whole. If we don't pick it up the second half then were gone.

MarlinsFan253
Hey, we will be over .500 at the All-Star break. Let's not drop a verdict on them yet. I know if we keep it up the way we have been playing, there will be no run in the playoffs, but things can change. It happens to teams every season. Some fall apart after the break and some dominate. CyggyMarlin
Unless changes are made, I don't think this team will get in as it is right now...The offense is too inconsistent...It'll be like last year, hovering a few games over .500 the rest of the way...It all comes down to the front office, do they make moves to make a push to make the play-offs or do they look to see about building a better team for next year... D-Train35
I've been as optimistic as anyone, but at this point, I would have to say no, they aren't gonna cut it this year. It would even surprise me if they made it close in the last week of the season.

MarlinsFan253
I have a feeling that if they don't come off strong in the first 15 or so games after the break, they will just let the season slip away and we will finish well under .500. Changes are needed.

But...the Fish start off on a long road trip after the break. Not a good way to get it going unfortunately I Can't think of anything positive to say (as usual) :confused

Fish Fillet
they MIGHT make it to the playoffs...but if they do they wont last...sorry 848927[/snapback] Good point. Even if the Nationals' team bus drives off a cliff and the Marlins back their way into the playoffs, I just can't see them getting any traction and accomplishing anything of significance once they got there. So the question becomes whether you'd like Beinfest to be forced into making trades that sell out future potential for short-term upside in what will rpobably be a futile and wasted effort, or would you rather he approch the trading deadline with an eye towards keeping the farm stocked and securing some quality MLB talent that is affordable long-term? I'd like to see him do the latter.
Admin
At this point, no-one knows. I really hope they do, but if they don't I will continue to support them. I love this team-- win or lose.
CyggyMarlin
My gut feeling is to make this team much improved for '06 so that when they are picked to win the NL East next season, they will...
