Because now as soon as we're down I can switch channels and get on with my life and salvage my night.

Seriously guys. I was all Marlins all the time. And all these losses would kill me and i wouldn't be able to sleep at night. I need a break from losing. Thank god ESPN shows anything Yankees or Red Sox so I always have something else to watch.

Well, I guess it's times like this which seperates the real diehard fans from the fair weather fans. I know lot's of fans who would rather watch RedSox-Yankees over Phillies-Marlins... they're called bandwagoners.

This is NOTHING compared to some of those brutally disgusting seasons that we've had from 98 to 02, if you can't hack a little slump like this where we are still above .500, then you obviously were not a fan during the truly tough times in the history of this franchise such as when we finished 52 games back in the division, yes; FIFTY TWO.

You're acting like it's the end of the world.

nothing like getting shelled.....AJ was not on and Resop was way off...no tight breaking pitch like he throws...lazily hanging one hit for a HR that would be a single anywhere else...but nevertheless...can't hang or they bang.....Vargas looked good...ground balls are the answer not those that get up...trouble is abrewing if hitters get the ball up....

I can understand (and can't blame you) you thinking that our season is over. But losing is part of the game. The best talent can bring a losing season, is not the first time that this has happend. Just relax enjoy the games, and there is always a next year.

The way I see it, I'm set for 10 years with the way we won it on 03

I agree with you all the way. No matter what the teams record is I am watching every night that I can and for the full 9 innings no matter what the score is, and as long as this team is playing I am still believing that they are going to wake up and salvage this season. Tonight they showed some serious life at the plate and as bad of a night that AJ had the bullpen was much worse so I am hoping that we can acquire somebody to strengthen the pen and then jumpstart the team.

not watching every inning of every game definately doesnt make you a fair weather fan.. i know i had to change the channel today not because i think the season is over, but because i get too angry and frankly i dont feel like feeling pissed off after work, and now its happening more often than before. between 98 and 02 i wasnt expecting much so i could handle the losing, but now with a team as talented as this one, it makes me pretty angry that they are so damn inconsistent.

man this is are year, delgado isnt getting younger, neither is mike lowell. even though cabs and d.willis are only getting better we need it this year. We must have all good seasons in order to show the anti-stadium people that it will be worth it to give us the stadium. if we dont do it this year, we gotta next year, next year will be the last great year of delgado, then it will be just good-average years from him, and the same with lowell two of the big three bats we are suppose to have. if lowell were having .260-12-45 sup-par season then the .222-3-30 something season that is way below sup-par and pierre a .330-35 steals, 115 hit season so far we'd have the nationals record or better.

I concur with 2006 as being the year of the Marlins...right now you have unseasoned pitchers with 4 coming up from AA and AAA......with 2 as starters and 2 in the pen and with another few months of the season to go, the experience they are getting now will carry them into 2006. You will see some very tough young pitching....hopefully Hermida will come up as will Andino.....yet Andino might be a year away....great young team coming up in the future

Spoken like a true fan. The losses this year and last have hurt much more than the ones in 93-95 and 98-02. Why? Because when you know you have no chance to compete for the pennant the losses sting for a bit but dont hurt like now where we are slowly falling out of it

So some of you have called me a bandwaggon fan. you couldn't be FARTHER from the truth. When your team is picked to be in the World Series at the begining of the year. When you are picked to have one of the best pitching rotations in the League. When you sign a verteran slugger for what, 15mil a year? And you're in LAST PLACE of the division?

PLEASE forgive me for being disheartened and not being able to watch an entire game where AJ gives up 3 HRs in an inning and our pitchers get rocked for 13 runs.

PLEASE forgive me for losing faith when we get swept by the sub .500 cubs and split a series with the sub .500 brewers, teams who wont even smell the playoffs this year.

PLEASE forgive me for not wanting to spend $15 - $30 for a ticket to go see a team that is underachieving and my $$ goes to pay their inflated salaries (note: i've gone to one game of every series. sometimes 2).

PLEASE forgive me if I rather do something else with my night than watch a team that i love get their ass kicked every night by sub par teams.

If THAT makes me a bandwaggon fan.....then SO BE IT!

Oh, and BTW, just because i switched to the Yankees BoSox game doesn't mean anything. It was the only other game on and I just wanted to watch some baseball where I didn't care who won or loss that way I would have no emotional intrest.

Very good statment and I agree 100%. It just sucks because before the season everyone was saying that it was going to be a dog-fight all year between us, the braves, and the Mets. As much as I hate the Mets, imagine how they must fee, if we have people that are willing to give up when we are one game above .500, they must be jumping off the Empire State Building by the hundreds........funny we never hear about it. I still say that its going to be those three team in it til' the end. Yesterday we got a taste of whats going to happen to the Nats for the rest of the season and the mets did look good last night but so did the Braves as well. All I can say about last nights game in Philly is......

One question: How many time does a team score seven runs and still lose? Answer: Not very often.

Imagine if we had lost 13-0, 13-1, or 13-2. Three weeks ago this may have happened. Granted we didnt look so hot against the cubbys before the break but the have arguably the second best rotation in the NL (behind us of course). I see a little bit better team out there that last couple of weeks though and last night was a lop-sided loss but not as bad as it could have been. I feel as though some people on this site view the glass as being half empty instead of half full. Look at the good side of things instead of thinking that the season is over. We got our asses beat last night BUT we played with heart and also Pierre went 3 for 4. That is a victory in itself. I am predicting that as Pierre gets better (which he has been) so will the team. At this point if Lowell gets better that will be icing on the cake however I do feel that he will be an add-on to any Burnett trade.

My whole point to this is: We all know that our enemies read our site, so lets not give them any ammunition to use against us later. WE ARE MUCH MUCH MUCH BETTER THAN THAT!!!!

ya know i saw something on baseball tonight highlights before the mets game. the whole team was huddled on the field right before the game. getting ready for the second half of the season. not sure if thats randolph's doing or what. that is the kinda s*** i think is missing. im thinking a change in manager will do that.

i still dont think its time to throw in the towel

We don't hear about it because the Mets are tied with us.

You know, and maybe someone can correct me on this, I've never seen a that is 3rd, 4th, or in their division 5th @ the end of the year win a wildcard. Don't say "we've got to much talent to lose" because I believe we've had all this talent since the begining of the season and we've been losing w/ the same talent since the begining of the season. teams that are going to do something get hot BEFORE the ASG break. (huston 04, marlins of 97 and 03) they arent sitting at .500 last in the division at the ASB.

Oh yeah, and when do you guys start calling the Nationals a real playoff contender? August? September? We're in mid July here and they are on pace to win close to 100 games. Just let me know so when that time comes and they are either A) winning the division or B) (more likely) leading the WC race, i can come here and tell everyone "I told you so".

I still stand by my previous statement, I will be standing outside Dolphins Stadium in October and all those who are in line for playoff tickets can beat me w/ a electric rod.

If you can't stick behind this team through thick and thin, then jump off right now. There is no room for quitters here :nono

Dolphins fan. Enough said. Every year we are a super bowl contender on paper. And every year we get our asses handed to us.

And it's not just one game. It's 6 games in the last 8 (didn't we see this trend earlier this season) to crappy teams. And someone here posted that we are 3-27 in games where we score less than 3 runs. 30 games out of 88(?) where we've scored less than 3 runs. thats 34% of our games (yes i can use a calculator). If that trend continues that means that we will have ~56 games that we will score 3 runs or less and we will only win 5 of them. So with that stat ALONE we have lost 51 games. Not to mention the games that we score more than 3 runs and still lose (last night for example)

obviously this is all hypothetical. but im just putting the numbers out there.

Do I think there is still a chance for us to compete? I am slightly leaning towards the yes side just because we haven't dipped below .500 yet and the division is so tight. But if we continue to have rough spots that last 2-3 weeks long it's just closing the door on all optimisim.
