July 21, 200520 yr From what I've read, he's happy being the big fish in a small pond there and doesn't want to be traded. Besides he's lost a couple of steps defensively (although man oh man that bat).
July 21, 200520 yr Author I agreed with the thread title and then the subtitle, but when I opened the thread and read the post I wanted to slam my head against the wall. 868567 What's stopping you? :banghead Griffey is there for the taking, and the Marlins have the farm system to get him.
July 21, 200520 yr Author I'll repeat what I said last time someone suggested this: Griffey will get hurt on his way to the bank to cash his check. 868584 He's finally healthy and he's hitting up a storm.
July 21, 200520 yr Drain our farm system in return for a half-season, injury prone, rental? I'll pass

July 21, 200520 yr Don't get me wrong I love Ken Griffey Jr. since his days with theSeattle team that was well stacked with AROD, Jay Buhner, and Edgar Martinez, but let's face it, Ken Griffey is made right now for either a move to lf or rf, or even a move to DH in the American League where he can continue to add on to his HR totals, he is at a stage where he should be setting records instead of helping a team like the fish get somewhere, he is a stats player at this point, please view reds and their place in the standings, one guy can't carry a whole load, we need bullpen and a starter, without losing burnett or anybody else, that's all we should spend SOME piece of our farm system on. PlUS where does this money all of a sudden come from? And where do we put Pierre?
July 21, 200520 yr If no one on this board ever inquired about Ken Griffey Jr. or Adam Dunn again I would be ecstatic. 868592 Or Wily Mo.
July 21, 200520 yr Drain our farm system in return for a half-season, injury prone, rental? I'll pass 868589 Hmmm... maybe now you know what the O's and sox feel about burnett...
July 21, 200520 yr Ken Griffey, Jr nuff said 868551 nope. no point in making our team any older by clearing out our farm system for him. great guy, great player, past his prime, injury prone. not worth the risk at all.
July 21, 200520 yr Drain our farm system in return for a half-season, injury prone, rental? I'll pass 868589 Hmmm... maybe now you know what the O's and sox feel about burnett... 868769 bit different when Burnett has a whole career ahead of him and griffeys is winding down. bad comparison
July 21, 200520 yr In keeping up with the insanity... let's trade for Lance Berkman... :cool 868971 Ooo I like, then we can turn around and trade him and Lowell to the Yanks for A-Rod and Mariano.

Astros got him. We watched the Astros on TV in the playoffs. Admin "injury-prone guy on his last legs" Walker played in the World Series.
July 21, 200520 yr Griffey won't accept a trade here. Maybe we can get Adam Dunn or Wily Mo Pena though!!! :drool :suicide
July 21, 200520 yr Author Griffey won't accept a trade here. Maybe we can get Adam Dunn or Wily Mo Pena though!!! :drool :suicide 869110 He lives in Orlando. He doesn't have a ring. It is for 3 months.
July 21, 200520 yr Griffey won't accept a trade here. Maybe we can get Adam Dunn or Wily Mo Pena though!!! :drool :suicide 869110 Oh, GOD!!! Another Adam Dunn/Willy Mo Pe?a related trade post... Mr. Dung strikes out 200 times a year and has never hit more than 266 for average. Mr. More Pena (in spanish, w/o the "?", means "shame"), has 117 RBIs... career total!!! I really hope you were just being sarcastic...
July 21, 200520 yr He lives in Orlando. He doesn't have a ring. It is for 3 months. 869115 He's comfortable in Cincy and would only accept a trade if you guaranteed him a ring. We can barely guarantee a playoff berth right now. I really hope you were just being sarcastic... 869146 :suicide
July 22, 200520 yr Drain our farm system in return? for a half-season, injury prone, rental? I'll pass 868589 Hmmm... maybe now you know what the O's and sox feel about burnett... 868769 bit different when Burnett has a whole career ahead of him and griffeys is winding down. bad comparison 868782 The reason it is a good comparison is because either way burnett is a rental, like griffey. its not like the sox would benefit from burnett's season after this one if they didnt resign him... besides, griffey still ahs a few years in him
July 22, 200520 yr how about aj + enc. 2 the pirates for bay + macowiak 869783 What's in it for Pittsburgh? They're almost in last again, Bay is young and inexpensive, and they can't afford to re-sign Burnett in '06. Bad, low-payroll teams don't a) take on semi-expensive rentals, and b) give away players like Jason Bay at the trade deadline.
