August 2, 200521 yr Well the starters are obviously White Chocolate, D Wade, Toine, U, and Shaq, and actually (I think) 'Zo and Doleac are back to go with Posey and Simien off the bench......and that's darn good. But who the heck is gonna play guard off the bench, Shanden Anderson and Steve Smith?? :plain. Gotta find somebody with the mid level at 5 mill I guess....
August 2, 200521 yr I think we're paying Walker too much. And honestly I don't really like Walker or Jason Williams. But we're a better team after the trade than we were before, so I can't really complain. We got 3 solid players who will be in the rotation in exchange for EJ and two guys who haven't done anything. And just as important, we still have that mid-level exception to get another quality player.

August 3, 200521 yr Shaq at 100 for 5 is a steal, but I can guarantee he isn't going to play all 5 of those years. He will play 3 or 4 of them and win a title, maybe two. Great deal though, the Heat have SOME wiggle room with the cap now despite still having the big man around. 885696 explain how? the heat will be over the cap for many many years like most teams in this league.
August 3, 200521 yr someone explain this to me.... the heat win the east if dwayne wade is healthy, yet they make drastic changes. why?
August 3, 200521 yr someone explain this to me.... the heat win the east if dwayne wade is healthy, yet they make drastic changes. why? 886484 so theres no doubt you have to say the heat are better off after this than before it...

All four of those teams suck.
August 3, 200521 yr Author Trade is now official the 5-team deal has been approved In short Heat acquire Antoine Walker, Jason Williams, James Posey and Andre Emmett Heat lose Eddie Jones, Rasul Butler, Qyntel Woods and the rights to 2004 2nd round pick Albert Miralles and some draft picks
August 3, 200521 yr haha, J-Dub is on the heat. my favorite player in the NBA until Udonis came around.
August 3, 200521 yr While I agree that the Heat were the best team in the East without this trade, there's nothing wrong with trying to get better. Yeah, you lose some things by trading EJ, but I think they gained plenty more than they lost. It will be nice to actually have a playmaker at the point, and I think JWill will make both Shaq and Wade even more effective...which is something Damon Jones really didn't do. Shaq made Damon an effective player, but I don't think it worked the other way around. And Walker will be the third option for the first time in his career, and I think he's just going to kill teams. EJ wasn't really able to capitalize on this amazing opportunity on the offensive end. I think Walker, who has a more talented offensive player, will do a much better job. With EJ gone, though, I think it's really important now that Zo comes back...because we're probably going to see more perimeter players getting inside, and it will help having Zo back there to mess up their shots. Also, I'd be really surprised if anyone signs Damon Jones for more than the MLE. There's no way he's worth it.
August 3, 200521 yr I hate the deal. The Heat were 1 game away from going to the NBA Finals and if Shaq was 100% and Wade wasn't a p***y bitch with a cheap injury, we would have been in the Finals guaran-damn-teed. No sense in messing up the entire team like this, frankly I think Riley is just making this deal to make a deal, since he can't coach, he's just doing it so he can feel important and be able to take credit for the team if we do actually win the whole thing. /rant *PUTS ON FLAME SUIT*

August 3, 200521 yr Largest trade in NBA history sends Antoine Walker to Miami By TIM REYNOLDS, AP Sports Writer August 2, 2005 MIAMI (AP) -- In the largest trade in NBA history, Antoine Walker was dealt from Boston to Miami on Tuesday night in a transaction involving five teams and 13 players. The Heat also acquired point guard Jason Williams and small forward James Posey from Memphis, while the Grizzlies received guard Eddie Jones from the Heat. The New Orleans Hornets and Utah Jazz were also involved in the deal. The trade was larger than a 12-player, four-team deal in 2000 involving Patrick Ewing that had been the biggest in league history. Miami also received Andre Emmett from Memphis and the draft rights to Roberto Duenas from the Hornets; Utah received Greg Ostertag from Memphis; Boston picked up Curtis Borchardt from Utah and a package -- Qyntel Woods, the draft rights to Albert Miralles, two second-round draft picks and cash -- from Miami; New Orleans acquired Rasual Butler from Miami and Kirk Snyder from Utah; and the Grizzlies received guard Raul Lopez from the Jazz. So heres who everyone gets Heat Walker Williams Posey Andre Emmett draft right to Roberto Duenas Grizzlies E. Jones Raul Lopez Jazz Ostertag Celtics Borchardt Woods draft rights to Albert Miralles two Heat 2nd round picks cash from Heat Hornets R. Butler Snyder

August 3, 200521 yr i like this deal.. people can hate on walker, but last year when boston acquired him he played great when he was playing inside, and not chucking up threes.. i think he will know his role here or else he would have never signed with us. him, simien, posey are 100x better than anybody we had coming off the bench last year.. now we need to sign a back up PG, and this team will be set
August 3, 200521 yr finley might sign with the heat.his agent is the same agent as wade's and van gundy was his coach back in college.
August 3, 200521 yr I think it would be more accurate to say I had no idea he ever even played for Dallas. How'd he do there? 886616 not that good. 886617 His numbers don't look that bad. He didn't shoot like a crazy man, averaging 5 less shots per game than his career average...which shows he can keep his s*** under control. He had probably the best assist-to-turnover ratio of his career. Shot 42.8%, which isn't great, but it's better than his career average of 41.3%. The only bad thing really is his 3 point percentage which was 26.9%, almost 6% lower than his career average. Anyway, I would expect him to duplicate that kind of success with the Heat, at the very least. If anything, his 3 point percentage should be significantly higher than his career average...because of Shaq. And really, the Heat are a different animal than Dallas. The Mavs are a collection of good players who have never had a realistic chance at winning the NBA title. The Heat have two players who basically demand double teams and they're both superior to the Mavs best player Nowitzki. If you disagree that Wade is better than Dirk, that's fine, but I'm not about to get into an arguement about it.

Rants are one thing but this is just a disgrace. We messed up an entire team? I'd like to know how. By trading someone we've been trying to trade for years, by dumping a streaky bench player, or by sending away a player that people just figured out was actually on the Heat? And if Riley is just making a deal to make a deal, why the hell not? It's not like we traded away someone of major importance. So in sumnation, blow me. Anyway, I'm pumped with this deal. I was never a fan of Rasual and EJ had his moments but I shall survive without more of them. I realize 'Toine doesn't have great defense or is the most consistent but it's not to the point that it would essentially hurt our team. He's not even being asked to fulfill a major role, EJ was an asset...not a star. Plus with the addition of JWill, Dwyane can stay at SG so it's perfect. Way to go, Riles.
