Chad Fox

2001 :1.89era

2002: 5.79era

2003: 4.50era

he has a very nasty slider.... maybe the pitching coach in AAA can work with him

Lenny Harris

all time PH leader.... nuff said

Lenny Harris is one of the better PH hitters in the game but has really struggled with the Cubs (.183 avg). He can be solid as long as he doesn't start. Harris is also a great clubhouse kind of guy. Fox was a good pickup. These pickups can't really hurt because they are going to AAA anyway so it's a win win kind of situation . Good move by Admin Beinfest

Fox is a good pickup by you guys. And you can stash him at AAA for a few weeks.

Harris looked done with Chicago though.

Lenny Harris will be called up prior to August 31.

Bet on it.

Can you say: Veteran leadership?

And is Fox a lefty or righty?

lefty.

I dont know who Harris will replace.

But he will be on any potential playoff roster.

Lenny Harris! Awesome in the pinch. He's from Miami went to Mdcc good move and probably won't cost to much make some move for him send down someone mordei? who knows I want to see him up here great in the clubhouse!

lefty.

Basing this on the fact that Fox is a lefty, if healthy, he will be in the majors in a week or two. Almanza will either be traded through waivers or released. Guarenteed.

fox throws right handed and bats lefthanded.

check it out.

Well I obviously didn't want to know how he threw, not hit.

Despite the fact he's a righty, I think Phelps is on his way out if Fox does well in AAA. I like Tommy, but this same thing happened to Levrault. And you know, Phelps is a career minor-leaguer, and Fox is a vet with playoff experience. So...

i was talking about andy fox.

you people are talking about chad fox.

too many foxes.

Why would you be talking about Andy Fox in a thread about Chad Fox? :lol

Anyways, they'll both be in the majors.

good pickups........we'll see how much they help out down the road.

because i was talking about lenny harris replacing some bench player on this roster.

I see. Fox is too versitile, and a lefty. No way he goes anywhere.

If anybody is sent down for Harris, I hate to say it, but I think Mordi is the best option.

Good move!!!!Adding a pretty good reliever and a good utility player that can play all over the diamond

:marlins

:happybday

That was a very good move! Chad Fox is good in the Bullpen and Lenny is like the all time leader in Pinch hits! I say bring him.

chad fox does not give me warm fuzzies.

lenny harris can make a difference though.

Here is the article on the trade.

Notes: Veterans in the wings

Lee scratched from lineup with sore shoulder

By Joe Frisaro / MLB.com

ST. LOUIS -- The Marlins added some experience Thursday, signing a pair of veterans to the organization. But they will have to wait a bit before they see results at the Major League level.

Lenny Harris, the league's all-time pinch-hit leader, and right-handed reliever Chad Fox have signed minor league contracts and both will start off at Triple-A Albuquerque.

Harris was placed on waivers by the Cubs for the purpose of giving him his unconditional release Aug. 2. A native of Miami who attended Miami-Dade Community College, the 32-year-old third baseman previously played for Marlins manager Jack McKeon in Cincinnati.

"This is good," McKeon said. "We've got a couple of guys with experience. ... It's worth the gamble."

For now, it is unclear if, or when, each player will be brought up to the Marlins.

McKeon said both will get some immediate playing time with the Isotopes in the Pacific Coast League. Both could be called up in September, or sooner, depending on performance or circumstances.

"Lenny is a professional hitter and a clutch player," McKeon said.

Harris also provides some veteran experience.

McKeon noted when he managed Harris in Cincinnati, there was an occasion where he played the veteran in about 10 consecutive games.

"After 10 days, he said, 'I'm worn out, Skip. I need a rest,' McKeon said with a laugh.

Harris, a situational backup for several years, holds the record with 177 career pinch-hits. In 75 games with the Cubs, the 38-year-old batted .183 (24-for-131). He was 4-for-32 in pinch-hit opportunities, and he started 26 games at third base.

Fox, who turns 33 on Sept. 3, was released by the Red Sox on July 30.

The right-hander has battled back twice from Tommy John elbow ligament surgery, which caused him to miss the 2000 season when he was with Milwaukee. He pitched in three games with the Brewers in 2002 and was looking to make a comeback this season with the Red Sox.

After an impressive Spring Training, Fox was part of the Red Sox "closer-by-committee" rotation that started the season. In 17 appearance this season, he was 1-2 with 4.50 ERA in 18 innings.

His year got off to a rough start as he surrendered a walk-off, three-run homer to Tampa Bay's Carl Crawford on Opening Day.

I was thinking the same thing about Harris being called up before September 1. September callups can not be on a playoff roster, they must be called up by August 31.
