August 24, 200520 yr You don't need Hermida to make this a better lineup. It's been said 8,473 times on this board already, but putting Conine in left, with Cabby at third, would make the lineup stronger, once Enc comes back. Conine is really hitting well and he could make a difference in the lineup with Enc at the same time. 913138 Finally someone who makes sense. Who dont need to call anyone up. With Cabrera at 3rd, Conine and Encarnacion in the out field we are better offensive team. We get lowell and his .230 average out. The least we could do is try it for a few days 913193 Amen - Hermida should contribute but he's not the team's savior. If we're going to win, the vets will all have to contribute. Tonight was ugly, but at least we got losses out of Houston, Atlanta, and DC. Lets hope A.J. pitches lights out and whoever pitches Thursday gives us a chance to take that game. 913222 I dont think anyone believes Hermida is gonna be Cabrera. Maybe everyone on the boards hopes so eventually. But, I think he would put up solid numbers and defense out there. I want to get Encarnacion back too but I gotta wonder, whatever happend to Connie's power? We need someone in the line up with a bit more power, that is what we are seriously lacking right now. 913320 Good point. We cannot rely on Cabs and Carlos as our only power source. Getting Enc back healthy would be a breath of fresh air but noone can predict he will be 100% the rest of the way. This is where Alex hitting for average this year is hurting us. The fact is we couldnt have seen this coming b/c noone would have predicted that Lowell, Niner, and Gonzo's power numbers would drop off. Especially Lowell. He looks like he struggles to even get the ball to the outfield. Finding a source of power would be a great lift. 913329 At least Gonzo is providing power via Doubles, the same can't be said about Conine, Lowell and LoDuca. I'm fine with Gonzo 913335 If thats the case then Lowell is doing fine when it comes to doubles aswell. In fact Niner isnt doing badly in that stat considering his # of at bats at 13 doubles. The doubles are fine as long as people are on base. I want HR power. Instant scorage :thumbup Also I have no problem with Gonzo. I just wish we saw a flash of power a bit more. Alot more damage that way. NL Stat Top 100 for Doubles: 13. M Lowell 31 16. A Gonzalez 30 64. P Lo Duca 21 Also if Gonzo was producing with power more his RBI totals would not be at 45. About 8 less then Lowell. 913340 well, Lowell is supposed to be a key piece on the offense. Gonzo is give me whatever you can

I guess with Gonzo its you take what you can get. With Lowell it should be expected. Regardless I think a 100% healthy ENC will be a pleasure to have back as far as another power source goes.
August 25, 200520 yr It will be interesting to see how it plays out tonight. Perhaps Mikey will get the message and show up offensively.

August 25, 200520 yr great move by jack putting cabrera at 3rd, next season i think we are going to drop lowell and give AJ the money and put cabs at 3rd,aguila in left, and encarnacion in right, along with tommy hutton as the skipper

August 26, 200520 yr "It's for one day only," Cabrera said. "I don't know when I'm going to go back to third base and play every day like I want to. I want to play there but can't right now. I just want to hit. I'm happy in left field, I feel great over there." http://florida.marlins.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/...t=.jsp&c_id=fla I think we all knew he wanted to but making public comments on the subject sure is interesting
August 26, 200520 yr I think Hutton could be a good manager... 914595 what about Boog Sciambi?! :mischief lol...serious, he seems to know his crap
August 26, 200520 yr I would love Boog as the bench coach. He would be an interesting manager So will we see Miggy tomorrow there again? I would love it.. I think we should bring up Hermida to split time with Mr. Marlin. If you bring him up earlier then september he can be on the playoff roster right?

August 26, 200520 yr Cabrera showed he still has the quick reaction to play 3B. Ever heard of Wally Pipp?
August 26, 200520 yr Trading Lowell, moving Cabs to 3rd, saving money to use on AJ...this is all common knowledge. Putting Hermida in RF is as well. Who will be in LF next season though?
August 26, 200520 yr It will be interesting to see how it plays out tonight. Perhaps Mikey will get the message and show up offensively. 913962 I'm quite positive it's not a matter of will power.
August 26, 200520 yr Hopefully today's game was a wake-up call to those who thought the offense was going to immediately perk up with Lowell out of the lineup and Cabs at third.

August 26, 200520 yr enc is gonna cost too much and will fly away. he will get good cash for his 370 RISP as for Miggy. He made Baseball tonight with a great play
August 26, 200520 yr I would like to see The Boy Called Cabs in 3rd again, and another benefit is having a guy like Mikey on the bench is that we have someone with legitmate extra base hit power for PH situations where you can't expect too much in terms of a double or HR from someone like Lenny who is more of a singles hitter.

August 26, 200520 yr Lowell is simply not producing for us. There is little reason to think he can turn it around this season. Let's keep Miggy at 3B and Conine in LF. That's a much better lineup.
