August 26, 200521 yr I can't wait to see mordy back with the Marls, it would bring back a lot of good memories. I'd like to see the Marls call up someone like Resop to help out in middle relief, since we never know how a guy like Messenger will perform, so it's good to have extra arms in the pen. Another lefty wouldn;t be a bad idea, but I don't know what options we have in that regard.

It was an isolated incident (his seasonal K rate is a better indicator of sustained success at higher levels, and his is not very good), and 3. He's not a prospect at his advanced age.

Plus it was against the best hitting team in that league. It's not as if anyone could go out there and throw a no no. 2. We have very good defense, he doesn't need to K everyone. 3. I dont think 26 is "advanced" age, it's not as if he'd have to use a walker to go out to the mound or have denture cream delievered to the bullpen. Dillon is 29.
August 26, 200521 yr I'm just telling you how that no-hitter is viewed and what it says about his place in the organization. Every player has that one day in their career. It's not how rare the accomplishment is for all ballplayers, but how common for the player in question. A number of other factors will go in to deciding where Ungs ends up (seasonal stats, physical talent, mental makeup, supporters among scouts and coaches, age, need) and for the most part they're working against him. He's going to the Arizona Fall League this year and try to work on a few things and impress people (thus making his chances of joining the big club this September even more unlikely).

August 26, 200521 yr I think he was taken in the rule V draft in the 03/04 offseason and returned to us before 2004. He retired this past offseason to start his coaching career and is coming back as a part-time player to earn his 10-years of MLB service which gains him more benefits.
