Marlins interested in Giants Christianson

Featured Replies

Briefly: The Marlins are interested in trading for reliever Jason Christiansen before Wednesday, the last day a player can join a team and be eligible for the postseason roster

He was DFA, so I don't think he'll cost us much, maybe cash.

Here are his stats:

6-1, 5.36 ERA, 1.5 WHIP, and righties are hitting .318 off of him.

If we're set on having more than one in the 'pen, better to offer VDLS some competition for. Only if you can get him for free or close to that though. They saw something in him back in July to seek out his services, why not see if they were right when he could be had at close to waiver-wire price?

Edit: wait, VDLS is off the team. Hmm, no idea what to make of this. Christiansen has traditional been very tough on lefties, but is not having a good year, heck even a decent one, in a park that suits him well. One might wonder if the Bonds' aging corps of players have hurt him in the fiel, but no, his .711 Defensive Effeciency Record when pitching is higher than the team average of .694

Who cares what righties are hitting off him? If he is used as a situational lefty he won't be facing many righthanded bats...what are his numbers vs. lefties???

Would have been better off keeping Perisho than rotating between guys like VDLS and Christensen

Not so sure about that...Fat Matt was just not getting the job done...he had worn out his welcome...time for the next lefty du jour!

Dumb question, but when did Mets put Looper on waivers?

Most likely when the 80% of the other MLB players went onto waivers.

Or just stop handing jobs to guys who can't get anyone out based solely on what arm they pitch with.
