Stretch That Lead

Featured Replies

Super outing by Josh. He really stepped up to the challenge!!

Now somehow we have to scratch out a win (or two) in the next two.

GO MARLINS :thumbup

Amazing job by Todd Jones. He has been a godsend for us this year.

JB pitched like an ace tonight, hopefully AJ can continue the trend.

The Phillies are starting to scare me, but at least the rest of our games against them are at DS.

With a bunch of games left against the braves the division is still a possibility (albeit a slight one).

We can win both of these. Clemens hasn't been all that lately. Who knows what we'll get from AJ, though.

If we make Clemens work I think we will be in good shape. :thumbup

Agreed. Be patient with him and see if he tires. He's nursing a sore hamstring, so we need to stretch him out.

AJ, you have a chance to beat the Rocket. Are you up to the challenge?

todd jones is absolutely unbelievable

wow.

i say we bring him in the 5th inning if we have to :D :notworthy

I hope the fish don't get the attitude that "hey, we won the two they expected against houston, and we got our split, that's good enough" and don't go all out the next two. Every game is important.

I will be extremely happy if we take one of the next two games.

Because then we would be leave 1.5 games up and then get philly at home.

This team is showing some emotion right now. Seems like they WANT to win now.

Who cares if it's Clemens on the mound. Let's win this game shall we?

I expect they will give Clemens all that he can handle. It should be a great game if AJ shows up.

If you've ever been on a team in this position from LL to the pros you know there isn't a chance in the world they are going to be complacent.

This team is driven right now. Anyone notice Delgado in the dugout when Conine turned that DP? He was estastic !!!

Have no fear, they know what every game means right now.

I doubt they would but what is important to remember is if they don't win-- it doesn't necessarily mean they didn't try their hardest. Often times here people comment they have no heart or they didn't try when they lose and that's just not the case. Can't win every game no matter how hard you try.

When I saw the thread title, I immediately thought of the ChiSox announcers.

STRETCH....... come on....... STRETCH STRETCH!!!

These damn phillies just keep finding ways to win. Big momentum shift for them after the Marlins series here...I just hope we cool them down at Miami.

I thought that going into this series, a split at a minimum was vital.

Now that they've got it, they gotta get greedy and try to get one more during these next two games.

It was important to take the first two, with the pitching match-ups skewed in our favor.

Now the Marlins have to try and steal one against Clemens or Pettitte.

A.J. and Clemens is an interesting matchup. AJ has been roughed up in each of his last four starts. Clemens meanwhile hasn't won since Aug. 7. Something has to give here.

My take? AJ has a good chance of turning it around. Houston has struggled offensively. I believe they have the lowest BA in the majors in the month of September. If AJ is going to have a "bounce back" game, it'll be this game. Pitching against the Rocket should also increase his focus.

From an overall team standpoint, the team appears very focused. I think the entire roster understands what's at stake here, so I'd be surprised if we saw a slip-up or a "let down."
