August 17, 200323 yr I was thinking this was a possibility. He could back up Lee and Lowell and could help if Lee is still hurt. But Lee finally hit one out so maybe he's feeling better. And Zeile's numbers were pretty terrible, though Yankee stadium isn't the best park for right-handers. He'll be 38 in 3 weeks; he may be done. We'd also run into the same problem that we have with Lenny Harris. Who do we dump to make room for a guy with a .644 OPS?
August 17, 200323 yr Yea with Nick Johnson coming out of the DL i expected the Yanks to release him. I dont know Todd Zelie isnt any better than Lee IMO. He wont be much addition to 1st base.
August 17, 200323 yr There seems to be plenty of options available out there for the stretch run. I like this idea Ramp, but I think 83Gator got it right with, who do you drop to get him? I think this team is good enough as it is, but this sure is tempting to go out and get a 'former' Marlin.
August 17, 200323 yr I'd have to pass on Zeile, I think I'd rather have banks than Zeile as backup firstbaseman.
August 17, 200323 yr i'll pass. two or three years ago I'd have taken him but his bat doesn't seem to have much left.
August 17, 200323 yr Todd Zeile was quality and still is a valuable veteran. A month ago I would have said grab him. Now I think Banks, Mordi and Fox can handle it. If somebody gets injured we can bring somebody up.
August 17, 200323 yr I still think you can't drop Mordy, for experience and clutch reasons. So I don't know who would go down. Hell, I'm still intruiged by the Lenny Harris "situation". Will he be here for the playoffs or not? Let's just go with the tide, see where it takes us.
August 17, 200323 yr Author who would he replace WC? i dont see Lenny coming up for the playoffs but he will be here for the roster expansion in September

Can't imagine we will see him.
August 17, 200323 yr who would he replace WC? That's what I'm saying. I don't know who we'd replace hi with. The only legit person would be Mordy, and that ain't happening.
August 17, 200323 yr First Zeile and Penny don't get along very well, second Zeile is from SoCali and would probable go home to LA for a run with the Dodgers IMO
August 17, 200323 yr First Zeile and Penny don't get along very well, second Zeile is from SoCali and would probable go home to LA for a run with the Dodgers IMO The Dodgers are making a run? Fooled me...
August 18, 200323 yr How about Gerald Williams for the playoff roster. He is doing pretty well. 314. AVG 11 HR 14 SB, in 71 games. He is also an experienced veteran.
August 18, 200323 yr If we make the playoff's Lenny has to be in the roster....he would be a big help. Zeile is old and cant play no more and he had never hit all that good either when he was younger. Why waste money on him.
August 18, 200323 yr Author Lenny would have to be on the roster by Sept 1st, also we wouldnt pay jack from Zeile(but we dont need him) so who do you send down AJ?
