October 22, 200520 yr Catcher Matt Treanor underwent surgery Wednesday to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder. His arm is in a sling, but Treanor, Florida's backup catcher to Paul Lo Duca, said he expects to be ready for spring training. "We thought it was the rotator cuff," he said. "It ended up the rotator was fine but the labrum was bad." Give Matt credit for toughing it out and playing through his injury. I'm glad to hear he will be ready for Spring Training.
October 22, 200520 yr can we please start calling him The Little Duke...he even physically looks more and more like Paulie every day...and he's showing Paulie's aggression as well as his defense really starting to pickup...his offense isnt tops but its gonna come along soon enough, and besides, how much offense do we really expect from a backup catcher?

Matt's defense has always been better than Lo Duca's.
October 22, 200520 yr wow...i never saw it that way but nice to see that being said... I had the advantage of seeing him play in Portland a few years ago, so I already knew about his defensive capabilities. There was a point during the 2005 season where the defense seemed like it wasn't as good as normal, but that was probably due to irregular playing time or to the injury. However, the defense did certainly come back near the end as you said. Hopefully, next year he can get more consistent playing time (at the MLB level) and I think if he does, he will be better both offensively and defensively.
October 23, 200520 yr great to see Treanor will be back for Spring Training, never knew he was playing through that injury. Very tough guy he is and a great job he did for us while Paul was gone.
October 23, 200520 yr Hopefully this explains the almost non-existant offensive production. And, of course, I hope he fully recovers and has no long-lasting after effects.

October 24, 200520 yr Matt as a person is awesome. I was at a game once, and some old man wanted an autograph from Delgado. Delgado just walked right by the man....so Treanor grabbed the ball from the old man and ran after Delgado and got him to sign it. And that's just on occassion
