November 2, 200520 yr P-Greg Maddux C-Mike Matheny 1B-Derrek Lee 2B-Luis Castillo SS-Omar Vizquel 3B-Mike Lowell OF-Jim Edmonds OF-Andruw Jones OF-Bobby Abreu Mike Lowell and Abreu are both first time winners.
November 2, 200520 yr can't really argue with any of those choices...personally, I would've given 1B to Helton, but Lee is a good choice as well The only ones who didn't it deserve were Abreu and Edmonds...Jose Guillen and Brady Clark were robbed I'm just happy Matheny and Omar won...this definitely cements Omar's ticket to the hall

November 3, 200520 yr Congrats to Luiy and Mikey! Maddux continues to win based on reputation. The majority of pitchers in the NL performed better than him. Tom Glavine or John Smoltz should have won it.
November 3, 200520 yr Schneider or Molina should have won instead of Matheny Molina's .641 CS% was ridiculous.....only 14 SBs against him all year. He really shut down the opponents running game. Perhaps his 7 errors cost him? I would expect his CS% should have been weighed much heavier. Again you had a guy who won on reputation.
November 3, 200520 yr Ugh, why does Maddux always have to win it? I'm starting to get sick of Edmonds too. He's good, but he often pulls that slows down, then speeds up move to dive for balls. I mentioned that on a cardinals board(the sprint, then slow down, then speed up at the last moment so he can dive and get on webgems), and they all got really angry. I was saying it on a thread to where they asked if his production would wane, and I said if he kept that up it would, and they said I didn't know what I was talking about and that everytime Edmonds dives it is necessary... Nice to see someone else sees that he is doing it on purpose, since most of his diving balls could be caught standing.

November 3, 200520 yr all deserving ... all great fielders ... not ONE player is underserving on this list great to see Vizquel racking them like theres no tomorw and Abreu to get his first

Nice to see someone else sees that he is doing it on purpose, since most of his diving balls could be caught standing. I still think he dives on purpose, plays too shallow on purpose and runs into walls on purpose.. He also has declined in the outfield. I'm not being a hater. I'm just being realistic. He won his on reputation alone. With that said, he's still a great fielder but not as great as some make him out to be..
November 3, 200520 yr excuse my ignorance but how does AJ and JE both win if they both play the same position? who won in left field?
November 3, 200520 yr Author excuse my ignorance but how does AJ and JE both win if they both play the same position? who won in left field? It's just 3 outfielders, kind of like the all-star game...

You are right, post people have the red glasses on when talking about Edmonds, at least you man up about it.
November 3, 200520 yr Derrek Lee wins Silver Slugger and GG at 1B but will lose the MVP to another 1B. :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol That really sucks for him though.

CS% is overwhelmingly based on the pitcher's pickoff move rather than the catcher's arm That doesn't explain how his CS% is more than 20 points higher than anybody else.......are you suggesting his .641 CS% is only because the Cardinals staff as a whole have exceptional pick off moves? :lol

Jones deserves every gold glove he gets.
November 4, 200520 yr Amazing to see Vizquel winning again...that's incredible considering the amount of range needed at ss
