  1. Wow Glavine put up a clinic today...I'm a big fan of pitchers who get by on intellect and accuracy, so I can't say that I was rooting for him (obviously I still wanted the Marlins to win). You've just gotta love those inside, 80mph pitches that were just freezing us. Oh well, we're learning. ps- Glavine=lock for 300 wins
  2. my bad...I just saw it on the news 3 days ago though
  3. That would be great if we could snag Marrero...I was saying before that the Marlins should really emphasize drafting local players. Not only would it be exciting for the fans, but it's a lot of kids dreams down here to play for the Marlins.
  4. Entering college next fall...I think I'm doing business, probably accounting. From what I've heard accounting makes you wanna kill yourself...
  5. Yea that's exciting that Cardenas has a shot at the state record; imagine breaking the record AND winning the championship! Here are the results/upcoming state title games: 6A: Flanagan (28-3) vs Sarasota (27-4) TODAY 5A: Pace def. Hillsborough (29-4) 11-7 (not sure who Pace is, not the one in S. Fla though) 4A: Bishop Kenny (27-3) vs Monsignor Pace (27-4) TODAY 3A: Episcopal (19-13) def. Florida Christian (24-7) 8-5 2A: Arlington Country Day (20-12) def. Santa Fe Catholic (23-9) 4-2 1A: Brito Miami Private (27-5) def. Eagle's View (23-7) 4-3 Flangan's won their last two games 8-7 and 1-0...They've got a chance to win 2 state championships in a row, and they have their ace on the mound, Glenn Witkowski (13-0 1.79 ERA)
  6. IMO there's no better place for HS ball than in South Fla, both Broward and Dade (though I hear Dade prob has the edge). Anyways, I love to see not only the incredible depth of players we have hear, but also the 1st-round-draft studs that represent the 954 and 305. I've seen RHP Matt Latos from Coconut Creek HS My report: -Hardest thrower in FL, cruises around 93-95 -Decent motion, stays very tall, which is an asset (6"6) -Hard bite on slider, hangs it sometimes though -Changeup, not much to it yet -Dominates high school batters -Good future, actually supposed to be a first round pick Anyways, anyone else wanna comment or tell a story on any teams, players, games, etc?
  7. http://youtube.com/watch?v=UxWduKIOeyY&sea...%20first%20time Describes one of his first times. One of my favorite Dane Cooks...just thought I'd share it with you guys.
  8. Unfortunately this draft class sucks pretty bad...not realistic but it'd be cool if we drafted some South Florida, home-grown talent more often (like the Braves do). For example, pitcher Matt Latos out of Coconut Creek high school. Kid throws 97!
  9. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2449846 Total cost of new stadiums combined: $1,350,000,000 wow...the Yankee's one looks pretty sweet too. Don't think it's worth it IMO though. Yankees: http://www.ballparkwatch.com/images/new_ya...w_yankees_1.jpg http://www.ballparkwatch.com/images/new_ya...w_yankees_3.jpg this looks cool and classic: http://www.ballparkwatch.com/images/new_ya...w_yankees_2.jpg Mets: http://espn-att.starwave.com/photo/2006/05..._mets01_412.jpg
  10. Actually, it seems like LeBron has intentions of staying in Cleveland. Not that it probably won't happen, but here's his quote in ESPN.com: "I'm really happy right now with what's going on," he said. "I love my teammates and the coaching staff. We'll see what happens." I'm taking that with a grain of salt, though. The maximum bling the Cavs can put up for him is 5 years, $75 million. A scenario to think about though: what if the Cavs make the Finals? hmmm :mischief2
  11. Article: http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/14554494.htm Saw it on the news today...and there was security tape :mischief2 ...anyways the dealer has 5 pairs of sunglasses set out for Juwan. The dealer turns around, and Juwan, who's wearing some baggy cargo shorts, slips in a pair of $1500 shades into his pocket. So now he has the problem that there's only 4 pairs there, so he shuffles the glasses really quick, and the guy working there doesn't notice. IMO not a huge story, it was wrong of him to steal it, but he's a millionaire, blah blah blah. But what made this comedic gold was that Juwan stated that it was just "a big misunderstanding". ROFL! What? Who would possibly believe that?/end of rant
  12. Admin, did Mozaic run well on your computer i.e. no stalling, no freezing? Just curious, because when I watch games on my computer on mlb.tv, it pauses...not sure if it's from having a slow computer though.
  13. A crappy manager. Do most people think Girardi's a bad manager? I know he's made some questionable calls so far, but I think he's doing a good job being positive with the team
  14. I know from experience that it's hard to get along well with teammates and coaches when losing, but how are the players doing in this department? I don't follow interviews etc, has it become the blame game yet, or are the majority staying positive? I for one was happy to see Dontrelle set an example after his shelling yesterday.
  15. Home Away 2-12 6-9 A notable difference, but I don't think it's anything to get worried about yet...could just be the result of a low sample size.
  16. I for one don't have a problem if MLB was in fact juicing the balls. This home run spike could really help, because fans now see that players can players are still incredible athletes without the use of steroids
  17. I would be a huge mistake if we trade Dontrelle. Im not so sure about that.... Obviously Im not advocating trading him, but if something real good comes our way, we need to listen to that offer I don't think there would be any trade worhty of giving up Dontrelle. No team is going to give us an established big-league star for him since it's probably a contender who would go far D-Train. We would only end up getting "hot" prospects who have little chance of ever reaching Dontrelle's success so far.
  18. When I was younger I had a coach who claimed to be good friends with Billy the Marlin. He said that Billy had basically every single Marlins promotional item known to man in his home
  19. I just hope that Miggy doesn't shortchange his huge potential i.e dogging it in the field
  20. Phone AND internet access??? Theo better jump on that deal
  21. Amazing to see Vizquel winning again...that's incredible considering the amount of range needed at ss
  22. I wonder if Burnett will ever break into true ace territory. High 90s fastball + curve that makes me cry tears of joy every time I see it= 49-50 record??? He's 28 now, so there's still time, but not too much.
  23. TimeWrecker, can you make me a sig of Vargas, Beckett, and Dontrelle (all in same sig)? Thanks in advance
  24. Obviously Miguel Cabrera is an incredible talent and he is the best thing to happen to the Marlins in a long time (along with Dontrelle), but is anyone concerned about his attitude? That quote of him telling the veterans to f*** off really disappointed me...could he become a real drain on the team?
