Posted November 9, 200519 yr Which would you get if you had the choice? I can get either a V6 mustang 2005 with the basics and spoiler for 20k (pretty much msrp) Or I can get a fully decked out 2005 RX-8 for 19k (list for what has on it is 28k) Mustang is great and a fun car. But the Rx-8 holds it's value better. Mustang has 200 HP and gets about 18-28 MPG gas Rx-8 has 197 HP and gets about 18-26 MPG gas I would post the pictures but notsure if this message board is able todo that. Smiley I just would love opinions specially if youhave driven them before. I am sorta stuck. The great muscle car or flashy sports car? I basically have been saving up for a while now (a couple of years) for this for which to decide.
November 9, 200519 yr My mom bought a 2000 V6 mustang, and we haven't had any real problems with its reliablity (though reliability can vary from car to car even when the make/model is the same), if that helps.
November 9, 200519 yr Author Mustang....must buy american. psst mazda = Ford= american Thank you all for opinions. I really do welcome them. Everything helps I have found when considering a car and I have brought it really down to these two. The other options I was considering were: Mazda 6 Pontiac Solstice Scion TC New Eclipse (was a Horrible test drive) Toyota MR2 (2005) Acura RSX (havent driven yet) New Civic SI (havent driven yet) But really when I test drove them all, these two were the most fun. November 9, 200519 yr Author Hmm guys the Rx8 and Mustang are both american cars Ford Owns Mazda and builds them within the USA I did just notice something else useful for the RX8 over mustang State Farm considers it a 4 door sedan for insurance purposes. Which is very useful. But, I still love the mustang too.
November 9, 200519 yr the mustang if you're whiskey tango or a chick personally i'd go with the rx-8 ... insurance companies do kill mustang owners and the cars are tiny as for all that buy american crap, well ..............................
November 9, 200519 yr RX-8........mustang is only worth it if your getting the real thing which by that i mean a V8
November 9, 200519 yr V6 Mustang =/= American muscle V6 Mustang = perfect for soccer moms, teenage girls, people of similar ilk I'd go with the RX-8 in this situation, assuming it's a manual because automatics in sports cars (or even sporty cars) is just gay. If this was between an RX-8 and Mustang GT, it'd be a Mustang GT every day and twice on Sunday.

If you want real american muscle invest in a Ford F-250, it is the Passion's vehicle of choice.
November 9, 200519 yr i'm personally split on the auto/manual debate i don't think I could ever get a manual car while living out here .... the commute is horrible and it's very stop and go .... would be way too much work
November 9, 200519 yr Author agreed about the best two mustangs of my choice are the GT or the convertable if I went V6 (why get a GT convertable?) But I cant afford the GT currently hence the debate over the Mustang V6 or the RX8 The only two other cars really have considered lately was the acura RSX (new body style in the upcoming 2007) and scion TC. The others I have driven didnt care for. Oh and the dodger charger is only an automatic
November 9, 200519 yr everyone and their mother has a mustang...borrrring. rx8 was testdrove.. it was alright, nothing compared to daddies...

They also classify the Rx8 as a 4 door sedan for insurance purposes with some insurance company's because it has 4 doors Which is sorta kewl in a way.
November 10, 200519 yr the new mustangs all blow. the new edition is kinda cool but in the end still blows. if you are getting a mustang, get a vintage one.
November 10, 200519 yr the new mustangs all blow. the new edition is kinda cool but in the end still blows. if you are getting a mustang, get a vintage one. Heh. Yeah, vintage cars are the shiznit. Granted, I'm a dodge man and all the vintage cars I've been privy to be in with are late 60's, early 70's Dodges. My friend and I tooled around on a 71 Dart, put a 360 in it, but it went bad on us (seal leaks). Now, we've got a '69 Dart with a 340. Thing's still got balls, though. I feel unsafe turning corners in it (I drove it for the last time in awhile about three weeks ago while we put it in winter storage for a little bit). I REALLY like the Dodge Magnum or Dodge Charger. 4 doors or not, they just look cool as all hell. I couldn't justify buying either one with the hemi though, because I'm still a student and trying to skim on gas prices (my current auto's are a Dodge Stratus, a Chrysler Concord and a Suzuki Sidekick; the Concord is going by the wayside, though). I've been driving the Sidekick ever since my Stratus has been in the shop and it's like being in gas heaven. I save soooo much money. But, if you can afford a new-new-new car you can afford the gas that you'll need to come with it. I would just CONSIDER being smart in your purchase, because three years from now you could be kicking yourself.

I can't see myself spending an extra $7000 or so extra on a Hemi, so the V6 250 HP SE model looks really good. Plus the thing is only $22,000, so I'm hoping to have enough money saved up by next year to pick one up. :thumbup
