December 9, 200520 yr Roger Ebert, who I trust, gave it 3 out of 4 stars. I used to rely on Ebert too, until he gave 4 stars (his highest mark) to the god-awful "The Cell". I always suspected that he had a crush on J. Lo before; now, I'm positive he does. I trust Rich Roeper a lot more when it comes to my taste in movies. About "Narnia"... I know the story and I like what I've seen from trailers, so I'll probably go see it.
December 9, 200520 yr maybe i should read the books. but i have never been a big CS Lewis fan...thats probably due to my 10th grade religion teacher though who had a hardon for Lewis' works which annoyed me greatly.
December 10, 200520 yr Just saw it tonight. Poor man's Lord of the Rings--best way to describe it. Some of the scenes are cheesy, but it was good overall. Obviously for a younger audience, of course. I'm excited about the sequel(s), because supposedly they are more mature.

Yeah Lewis writes using a lot of Christian allegory (Aslan the Lion in the Narnia books = Jesus for example) but at least in this series it isn't particularly heavy-handed. You could draw parallels to pretty much anything from it. It's just good fantasy writing in this case.
December 13, 200520 yr Saw it last night with some gals from work  For the record, Susan is HOT! Who's with me?!

December 13, 200520 yr I know she was in the book. But the actress has to be older. I don't care. OK I just looked it up, she'll be 17 this Friday actually. :shifty

I don't care. OK I just looked it up, she'll be 17 this Friday actually. :shifty She reminds me way too much of my sister. I like the child acting, though. They did a good job. And the witch was very good too. Liam Neeson!!! Gotta love having his voice for a lion.
December 19, 200520 yr Saw it tonight finally. I liked it a lot. It was fun trying to guess the storyline from what I remembered as a kid, and now being able to understand some of the connections and pick up on things a little better. I thought the battles weren't as well done as they could have been but being a movie aimed for younger audiences I didn't mind so much. Overall pretty good for an opening movie and I look forward to see how they condense the other five books into two movies.
December 19, 200520 yr I read the whole book in about 3 hours this morning... I'll be sure to catch it this week.
December 20, 200520 yr Saw this movie today. Pretty decent acting by the kids, absolutely amazing CGI animals. Aslan, the wolves, and the beavers are just unbelievable. The detail was just stunning.
January 17, 200620 yr Just saw it this past weekend and I'd say it's one of the better moves I've seen since maybe Batman Begins. The movie kept moving, good action sequences, it's got Centaurs (with some nice chops on them might I add) and thought it was well worth seeing.
January 17, 200620 yr It's the Chronic-WHAT-CLES of Narnia!! I saw a couple weeks ago, and it was a little too Jesus.
January 17, 200620 yr It's the Chronic-WHAT-CLES of Narnia!! I saw a couple weeks ago, and it was a little too Jesus. Considering thats how C.S Lewis intended to write the books, it needed to be.
