True.. but I hope the average Texan fan has by now realized they've had some of the worst offensive lines in the history of the NFL over the last couple years.

for what? a 4th round pick (at best)? what good does it do them to deal him when his value is extremely low?

 

if I'm the Texans and I decide to grab a QB (which would be moronic, but whatever) I'm keeping Carr and trying to build up his value instead of dealing him after a season where he was atrocious

maybe, but holding onto Carr for another year could just as likely drop his value as raise it...every year, unless he reaches his expectations of when he was drafted, his value will drop...if they hold on to him for another year or two and doesn't get any better, they'll probably wind up releasing him like the Browns did with Tim Couch, and it's more likely for his value to drop than go up

I'd rather get a fourth rounder than nothing

 

I disagree with pretty much everything here (as QB's in the past have raised their value without playing multiple times), but I don't think it matters much, as the Texans aren't dumb enough to take a QB with the first pick when they already have a guy who's got lots of talent but has never been given a chance because of shoddy O-line play throughout his career.

 

If you think Vince Young, Matt Leinart, or any QB would do noticeably better (to the point Houston contends) in the Texans current offense with their current personnel than David Carr, you're kidding yourself. Until they replace the turnstiles in front of the QB, whoever it is, they're screwed.

 

David Carr will never be a star in the NFL...all of Jeff Tedford's QBs have been great in college, crap in the NFL...Carr, Akili Smith, Joey Harrington, Trent Dilfer, and Kyle Boller (he became great once Tedford became his coach) have all been busts...I think Aaron Rogers will be the exception (as well as Joe Ayoob, but that's on the other end of the spectrum, as he's crap even in college and i'll be shocked if he even makes the NFL

I see him being an average-slightly above average QB, but not a great QB and not what a #1 pick should be, and definitely not the guy to pass up for the next Steve Young...Think Michael Vick with a good arm...Vince Young was the best passer in NCAA football this year, and while he may not do as well against pro defenses, he'll still be pretty damn good, and at least as good a running QB as Vick...on top of that, his calmness in key situations in the last two Rose Bowls has been Montana/ Brady like

I guarantee Kyle Boller will have a huge year next year. The last month of the season he's been pretty damn good and given a bit of protection and any decent receivers, he'll put up numbers. I'd imagine he'd be much better if his star RB didn't completely suck ass this year.

Saying someone can't be a good player because of who coached them or what school they went to is the most flawed way of thinking I have ever heard and annoys the living hell out of me... its beyond stupid.

four of the six guys i mentioned played for a school in NorCal...and the other two played for my #3 college football team (a distant third, but still)

I am so glad USC lost. I got really sick and tired of all the hype. And that USC was the greatest team ever. Give me a break they almost lost to Notre Dame and Fresno State. And they dominated the Pac 10, not much saying there. Kudos to Texas. Mack Brown finally should get the respect he deserves as he beat Oklahoma and won the championship. Great year for Texas.

It wasnt like Texas played in the SEC or somethin. Both teams played extremely weak schedules (besides OSU texas played no one)

cheap shot at the big XII as they have been weak this year for hte first time in a while.

 

Oklahoma and Nebraska both got better as the year went on.

 

Texas Tech wasnt 'that' bad.

BTW, you play the schedule you are given. Non-conference teams dont go into the horseshoe and win, yet Texas did.

i wasnt taking a shot at texas i was just stating to the members who said that USC had an easy season and played no one that texas' schedule wasnt that tuff either.

 

I give them credit they won but i think the overall best 2 teams in the game were OSU and Penn state.

 

I think a playoff system would ensure that the best 2 teams play for the national championship. This year the system worked out but the past 2 it hasnt and many times before that.

I think if there was an eight team playoff things would have been quite different/interesting.

 

That said, anyone that argues against Texas being the best team in the country right now is a fool, and this is coming from a Texas hater and Texas A&M student.

your talking about 2 games that could have gone either way. by no means did texas blow out OSU and Pennstate was one second away and should have beat michigan. Had troy smith played the whole game vs texas OSU wins

The Big XII didn't have one of its typical years as two of its stallworths were having rebuilding years, but I'm sorry the Pac 10 is easily the worst BCS conference. Even the Big East teams can win bowl games and out of conference games. The Pac 10 never has more than one good team at a time too - who was good these past years besides USC? The Cal team last year that got their nuts handed to them in a bowl game? The Oregon team this year that got 'robbed' of a BCS bid, and then proceeded to get blown up by Boomer Sooner that didn't have much Boomer til the end of the season? Please.
