Options?

The best option would be to get Conine and put him on LF, then move Cabrera to 3rd. But they have to wait until Lowell sees that hand specialist today, you never know if the injury is serious enough. I remember Bonilla playing at the end of 1997 with an almost broken wrist. Either way, a move to get Conine regardless of the Lowell situation would be very intelligent: you will be adding a veteran player, fan favorite, and somebody with power to the outfield that you can use in the playoffs and possibly sign cheap at year's end.

I have a crazy thought. Keep Cabs in LF and put Redmond at 3B?

OR, you COULD (if Pudge is able) put Pudge at 3B, keep Cabs in LF, and start Castro at catcher.

this all reminds me of the cabrera to first discussion.

you people are idiots.

your BEST solution is putting cabrera at third...and going with left field by committee.

First base is acutally easier to learn than the outfield, have you people been exposed to all positions on the diamond.

Oh yes, Jason Kendall did a marvelous job in left field a couple years back...cause it was so easy.

I would hope for Nunez getting a shot at the job...but that most likely will not occur. It will be a multitude of guys playing out there...McKeon will probably stick with whomever is hotter...if a guy goes 3-4 one night, he probably plays the next night also.

stop living in a video game world josh.

damn.

Like I said, it was a crazy thought. But if Pudge is able to play 3B, that would be the best solution.

Since when has Pudge practiced in the outfield?

Yeah I heard Mike Hampton might play first seeing that The Braves could use his bat.

You don't just stick someone in a position without at least trying him out there and working him in in ST games.

Pudge has the arm and the glove. It isn't a big move for anyone to go to the Outfield, it is the easiest position to adapt to. lol! So, you are gonna throw him in there in a game situation to see what happens? With no practice whatsoever. Judging flyballs from LF is nowhere near catching a popup with a catcher's mitt from behind the plate. We did it with Cabs and it worked. It isn't that difficult for someone to go from catcher to LF guys. You are making it more than it is.

see kendall, jason as a reason to not move a catcher to left field.

I've made the transition from LF to catcher and from catcher to LF. It isn't at all hard. If you have any baseball ability whatsoever (and you do if you're a ML player) than you can probably play LF.

If we have been playing good on sheer luck, why not continue? Maybe we are that lucky. I am tired of all the pessimists. Get your heads out of your asses, we are in first place with the wildcard and have a better chance than anyone to win this. Mikey will be back in four weeks and we have to win till then.

Cabs at third, be creative in LF. I have trust in this team, Jack McKeon, and Admin Beinfest. After all, they are the ones who have gotten us this far, not the critics or haters.

pudge has never taken grounders at third.

Hasn't it been said that he's been taking grounders at 3B every now and then during BP all season?

little league is very different than the majors.

Das,

Pudge could be taking balls in LF and third as we speak. How do you knwo what he has done and hasn't done?

little league is very different than the majors.

Travel leagues and little league are two very different things. I played travel, currently play HS.

You guys act like we have no LF.

We have...

Enc. (if need be)

Banks

TH (DL)

Fox

Williams

Cabs (When not playing 3B)

Stratton

Forgot Nunez... :p

thats A very dumb thing to compare little/travel what ever to mlb, or professional for that matter

Why? The fields I play are 320 down the lines. Kids hit HR's over those fences. How is transitioning from catcher, catching 80 MPH fastballs form 14-16 year-olds and going to LF to catch fly balls and liners any different from doing the same thing in the ML's? I'm dying to know how different it is. You still have to learn a new position. Kids that play travel leagues know what they're doing, and have been playing their positions their entire lifes. Then they all the sudden have to learn a new position. How is it any different?

If Stratton is called up we are in trouble.

If he played a full major league season with 600 abs...he would strike out nearly 300 times.

Allen is also an option for left field.

there is absolutely no reason to get into these fantasy worlds about who to acquire, who to move to left field etc....

when you have options for left field.

you are going to lose production no matter what. no need in moving a player into left field in september when you need to be at your best and 'hope' for the best.

that is idiotic.

idiots....

agreed

you HONESTLY THINK that the balls are hi as hard, sliced or cut as hard, go in the same angles?

also, you play 25 games a summer, they play 162games a year, pudge has been an mlb catcher handling 90 mph fastballs for 11 years, and now he is forced to have more agility in lf?

nice job

you HONESTLY THINK that the balls are hi as hard, sliced or cut as hard, go in the same angles?

Because every 90 MPH pitch goes exactly where it should every time.

He would do just fine at 3B I believe. He has more range thatn Mike...
