August 31, 200323 yr sooo anyways? Yah, everyone on the team can catch fly balls. But can everyone cover a bunch of green, judge fly balls, face the lights/sun? No. And we can't just ask the Phillies or someone to play a few practice innings against us to see if Pudge can play LF well enough. No. Plus...moving a gold glove C to LF? lol. I'd rather platoon Banks/Hollandsworth...maybe Gerald Williams/Nunez/or someone.

Pudge could play LF if he took fly balls everyday and got used to the territory. He's got the speed and the arm to play out there. He could probably play 3B too if you got him the neccesary fielding practice. And putting Pudge in LF or at 3B would allow Castro to become the starting catcher.

August 31, 200323 yr Pudge wont go to left. Thats for sure. The pitchers like pudge behind homeplate and mckeon wont take him out of that position. We have plenty of outfielders why put pudge in a position were he isnt familiar with?
August 31, 200323 yr I also forgot this small piece of information. Pudge has been asked to move behind the plate numerous times before.. The outfield and second has been suggested in the past, he flat out said NO. Why would he all of a sudden say...well you know that sounds like a good idea, lets do it.

If he can play 3B well ENOUGH to get by, than I think he'd have no problem with switching positions. Why? Because he's only moving to 3B for a month. And if he agreed to move to 3B for a month, it would help the team advance to the post-season. He flat out said no when they asked him to permanently change positions. This would be temporary, and help the team. IF Pudge has the ability to play 3B, the best option would be to move him there for a month and play Castro behind the plate.
