January 15, 200620 yr Marlins said they weren't interested. Good. Don't want him being a bad influence on the younger players. Our line-up is bad enough anyways.
January 15, 200620 yr Had we not signed Olivo, I would have been in favor of this, but at this point no point in blocking P.T. for Willingham/Aguila/Reed, and Sosa's gate influence is simply not great enough to warrant his eating a roster spot.
January 15, 200620 yr I wouldn't have wanted him anyway. He's too washed up, and would be far too expensive.
January 15, 200620 yr It's probably because he thought the team was sucky enough for him to be able to start. He must not realize Aguila would be better in the outfield than he would.
January 15, 200620 yr My thing is this... sure, he'd take up a roster spot and a starting spot from a probably deserving younger player. However, we know we're not gonna win this season. Our main priority (in my opinion) is getting people in the seats. Having Sosa would have done that... we obviously wouldn't have sold out every game, but there are a lot of people in South Florida that are still big Sosa fans. This would have been a good move...
January 15, 200620 yr good. i dont want sosa here. he has been done for a couple of years now, just hoping that someone signs him for his name value alone. sammy retire while you still have some dignity left, though after that congressional hearing where you couldnt speak english, though you could in 1998 in your pressers with Big Mac, not sure how much more you could lose.

Pretty good point there.. I would have taken a risk on him but for no more than a MIL and I doubt Sosa would that or anything less than.. Therefore, SCREW HIM!
January 17, 200620 yr If we would of have the same team as last year i would gladly want him back but no need for him now.
January 18, 200620 yr all this negitivity... Sosa could have taught our youngins the magical effects of the CORK. oh well, we win some and lose some. Hugh loss here
