New mock with new order ver 1.4

Featured Replies

This will become a 3 rounder in time, I am trying to do the first round now to get any comments that will change things for the futures. I tried to go BPA (or what I think will be BPA on my draftboard) along with team needs, team needs were supplied by football futures team needs boards which are pretty good and accurate I have found.

Well blast away please. I need feedback to change and update stuff. The order is correct up to depending on who wins this weekend :)

This is the first round, the second and third shall be added to the draft. I would like to get a couple of comments and things to change. I tried to make it a little different because everyone has the same orders and all. There is a few picks I am pretty sure folks will wanna see changed in there. If so, just say so. I didn?t include trades of picks and I don?t think any besides the Washington pick are traded in the top three.

Somethings of note Peterson (SF OLB) signed with Minn in FA for this draft.

Carr is traded for a conditional pick next year to Miami, either a 1st,2nd or 3rd depending on his play. Our GM likes to do conditional deals, so I figured that would work best and fit their style.

1 Houston (2-14) ? Vince Young QB Tex ? their fans want him and well they can trade Carr for something solid. They don?t need young or bush really but davis at his price is worth less in trade then Carr. The fans are pleased, they sign mcnair also in the offseason. Davis is 2000 total yards a year with a solid line and can be a WR or RB. He hit 4.2 yards per carry behind that crap they called an Offensive line last year. How is that the backs fault?

2 New Orleans (3-13) ? Matt Leinart QB USC ? They could take bush but with Duce, why? Brooks is done here so it fits to get matt in here to start over. Enjoy LA in a few years.

3 Tennessee (4-12) ? Reggie Bush RB USC ? A solid pick up to pair with brown whom is always hurt, I personally think Bush will be a bust compared to the hype, and yes you can quote me on it. He will be good but not as good as folks think. Still he is a solid pick up here.

4 New York Jets (4-12) D?Brickshaw Ferguson LT Virgina ? Best player in the draft in my eyes, and I hate to see the jets get him. He is the one sure fire pick that wont be a bust, never let up a sack in college and amazing for the run. He will extend martin?s career a year or two.

5 Green Bay (4-12) A.J. Hawk LB Ohio State ? Best linebacker in the draft, he is a must need for them and would give them flexibility to build a solid defense for the future.

6 Oakland (4-12) Mario Williams DE ? great pass rusher and will bring the pressure in Oakland teamed with their other solid DE. The league has gone more towards rules to restrict CB?s tight play on WR. Really there is no such thing as ?shut down? corners anymore, but that just makes the defensive rush more important. Mario brings the rush.

7 San Francisco (4-12) DeAngelo Williams RB Memphis ? top regular back within the draft and will be a great pairing with their young QB smith

8 Buffalo (5-11) Haloti Ngata DT Oregon ? They need a run stuffer worse then anything on their team. Right here Ngata is a steal.

9 Detriot (5-11) Michael Huff CB/S Texas ? Great secondary player could come in as a CB or S for detriot and gives them a big time playmaker

10 Arizona (5-11) Jay Cutler QB Vandy ? I am not sure if Green goes with OL or Cutler here. But I think he will have a great senior bowl and work out. Out of the three QBs he will end up being the best. But will Green go with a QB in the first with other needs?

11 St. Louis (6-10) Antonio Cromartie CB FSU (will rise high on draft day) ? Has a big time combine and rises up the boards and into the Ram?s lap here. He can come in and start for them and give them a defensive presence back there. He is also good against the run.

12 Cleveland (6-10) Bobby Carpenter OLB/DE Ohio State (tweener jumps draft day) ? Tweeners are the new thing and they often rise. So will bobby this year, he is a presence there upon the corner and they keep him in Ohio to become a brown. Gives them a great piece on the outside rushing that passer.

13. Baltimore (6-10) Mathias Kiwanuka DE Boston College ? Another great peace for the rush against the passer. Kiwi taken here is a great pick up and helps out that Baltimore D with a little youth.

14. Philadelphia (6-10) Demeco Ryans OLB Alabama ? can come in and play besides trotter and make an impact right away, fits their system very well.

15. Atlanta (8-8) Ko Simpson S South Carolina ? I think will rise even more and fits the Atlanta system very well. I think he fits their system better then Williams, he would be great back there for them. If the Atlanta fans are upset will flip them if they feel it is better

16. Miami (9-7) Jimmy Williams CB/S Virgina Tech (drops some from poor combine) ? I think he will have a poorer combine then expected and will drop a bit. Eventually ends up about here because Miami has no secondary returning by Poole and Daniels (and that bell kid special teamer). So they are in bad need for some help here.

17. Minnesota (9-7) LenDale White RB USC ? Will gives them a number 1 back for years to come. I think he will have a great combine and rise upwards along the charts. They will swipe a LB in FA I think.

18. Dallas (9-7) Marcus McNeil LT Auburn- A lot of Dallas fans seem to love the guy, they believe that with his monster size he will eventually move over to LT but right now they have need of a Right Tackle anyways. ( I believe their left tackle is deaf in his left ear so couldn?t hear the signals? Anyone wanna clarify?)

19 San Diego (9-7) Chad Greenway OLB Iowa ? most likely a lot will say one of the steals of the draft. I think he will give another piece to that young defense out in SD. They could be dominating for years to come.

20 Kansas City (10-6) Santonio Holmes WR Ohio State ? Give Trent some weapons in the air please, because Johnson cant be the only producer on the offense. I think they might look for a QB project late in the draft and perhaps some O-line projects

21 New England (10-6) Tye Hill CB Clemson ? a solid CB that doesn?t get the press that a lot of the others do lately, I expect Bill to take him and turn him into a pro bowler in two years time. Doesn?t he always?

22 Denver (Washington) (10-6) Darnell Bing S USC ? big time safety and fills a big time need for a team with few since they will be in the super bowl

23 Tampa Bay (11-5) Winston Justice OT USC ? He played right tackle in college, yes I know that. But he has the ability to play left tackle. Leinart is a lefty hence RT was his blinde side. I can see him flipping over and being excellent over there.

24 Cincinatti Bengals (11-5) Brodrick Bunkley DT FSU ? big time run stuffed DT which is needed up there in cincy. I am sure they look at the Tight ends also and consider them. But with palmer missing some of next year?s season most likely (you don?t rush him). Then you need to toughen that defense.

25 New York Giants (11-5) Rod Wright DT Texas ? seeing bunkley go right before there is sorta a kick in the pants, but wright is a heck of a player too. He can come in and stop that huge hole they had within the playoffs against the run.

26 Chicago (11-5) Vernon Davis TE Maryland ? best tight end in the draft and a big time target for their two young QBs. Whichever ends up becoming the starter up there they will be happy with Davis.

27 Carolina (11-5) Sinorice Moss WR Da U ? He will have a big time speed at the combine like his brother. Matching this speed burner at the side of Steve should be amazing to see. I am sure Jake wont complain

28 Pitt Steelers (11-5) Martin Nance WR Miami (Ohio) ? Was Big Ben?s WR in college, great chemistry which cant be bought. He will come in and find a use there to replace Randelle El

29 Jacksonville (12-4) Mercedes Lewis TE UCLA ? They have needs at RB, CB, and TE. I figure they fill out the TE here as he is the BPA for the positions. It is easier to find a RB and CB later in the draft rounds. Lewis is a great TE and should love it up in Jacksonville.

30 Indianapolis (13-3) - Laurence Maroney RB Minn- Edge walks in FA and gets picked up elsewhere. They also will lose wayne and a few other pieces here and there. But, Maroney helps to curve the edge loss right away. He is a solid pick and nice pick at the end of the 1st

31 Denver Broncos (12-4) ? Claude Wroten DT LSU ? Here is your assistance on the line, they have need a DT to assist there with a pass rush. Well Wroten can do both and is a solid pick up here. They fall short in the Superbowl, but still an amazing year for the broncos

32 Seattle seahawks (13-3) ? Max Jean-Gilles OG, Georgia People around the country are most likely asking themselves when seattle got a team. They are sorta the forgotten corner of the NFL. But, hopefully they get some respect now. I believe they lose Hutchinson but they replace him here with Gilles.

Round 2

To come shortly.

Only if they make the SB. I believe they fall to Denver whom is a better all around team. Any comments on the picks?

The Eagles are too dumb to take a linebacker in the 1st round. They don't place an emphasis on it. I can see them taking either Justice or LenDale White before they take a LB.

Although I wouldn't be mad about a DT in the first for Giants, I think there are more pressing needs at CB and depth at LB. Kendrick Clancy had a great year and William Joseph was pretty good when healthy and there is a really good crop of LBs out there. Nice job overall though. That hole they had in playoffs was more of a result of their starting 3 LBs being hurt and being forced to start Alonzo Jackson, Nick Greisen, and Kevin Lewis ... just a pitiful starting 3.

Reggie Bush won't go 3rd.

Most mock drafts I've seen has Vernon Davis a top 10 pick.

After seeing Peanut get burned for like 400 yards against Steve Smith, wouldn't mind seeing us take a CB.

Mets Bs

I will look for one of the others for the Giants instead of DT that is BPA. Do you have any suggestions? I would love to get a few :) I just figured he was a BPA there for yas. then snatch in the 2nd and 3rd some other good depth for the team.

Iowa:

I thought about a CB for the Bears but all year long he was pretty solid and I think the kid just choked, plus there isnt many "top top" CB's in this draft unless you trade up. there is plenty in the 2nd and 3rd round though for the bears I figured.

As per bush he could go first in a pick and trade but right now I didnt include trading of picks. I might change that in the next one.

Vernon Davis, I am sorta split on him I have seen mocks with him i nthe 2nd and I have seen them with him in the top 10. The same with Winston, Scott, simpson, huff (high or low in the 1st). Alot of guys are really up in the air depending on the combine. But, just trying to make educated guesses for now and looking for fans of teams insights.

as for the Fan, thanks for the insightful, intellectual response that is useful :)

The only way Bush goes third is if he hacks up a few white people like another former USC back.

Ngata isn't a "steal" at #8 - he's more of a reach at that point. If the Bills are dead set on taking Ngata, they need to trade down to do it. Otherwise, stay put and take Williams or Kiwanuka, whoever falls. What they really need to do is address the o-line early in the draft.

Ngata is right about where he should go. The guy is a complete monster who's big enough to play NT and with better pass rush skills than most DEs. He'll definitely go top 10.

As for the Giants, Eernie Accrosi tends to take fast, not so polished guys like Thomas Howard from UTEP.

I thought about him I can easily toss him into there as a switch would be fine.

ya Jeff I'm guessing you expect the Fins to trade for Carr, right?

nm you said that already

No way in hell will the Fins take Jimmy Williams. Guy has some serious issues and will surely be busted and arrested early and often in his NFL career. The Fins probably take Winston Justice if Jay Cutler is off the board.

  • Author

Justice I dont think would fit our blocking scheme that much honestly.

As for the problems on Williams they said the same thing with crowder before last draft. He was a "problem" as was matt roth.

They have worked out pretty good so far.

so the key is keep him away from McMichael

Crowder dropped to the 3rd round because of disciplinary problems. After Jimmy's blowup in the Gator Bowl, I am definitely against taking him. I'd much rather have Winston.

winston is one that interests me. I am not sure where to put him anymore. People have him in the top 10 and others have him at the end of the 2nd because of his injuries.

Scott is another that seems to flick up and down.

I really think after the combine they will settle to around our pick though too. As for williams the only reason he is not top 10 is because of his attitude problems.

This mock was just a trial to see how things would lay out if the texans did take young actually.

Injury problems?

He's missed two games in his career and those were due to an ankle sprain.

kiper is smoking something if he thinks miami should take Justice.

He is a Right tackle not a left tackle. Miami has Vernan Carey there whom played very well.

The best pick there would be Jon ScottLT/ Williams CB/Winston LT

winston if he does well i nthe combine his knees worry me.

Eric Winston suffered a major knee injury last year and had to have reconsrtuctive surgery or he would have declared last year. He's been super rusty this year too, there are a lot of health questions surrounding him.

I thought he meant Winston Justice.
