Featured Replies

Oh man last night I had a dream that I was looking in the Herald and it said thte Marlins won 31-0.

David Ortiz hits a 2 run bomb for the Dominican R. in the top of the 9th. Dominican now up 8-5 in the 9th.

Sheesh. Beltre addes a 2 run bomb in the 9th for the DR.

Now, 10-5.

Cabrera and Co. have their work cut out for them.

Campusano lines out,

Reed grounds out,

Pinch hitter (?) Anibal Sanchez singles,

Seabol singles,

Mark Little hits a ground-rule double, scores Sanchez.

Brett Carroll grounds out.

22-10. :D

Nationals crawled back into this.. not good, Im sure Joe will be happy with a win but mad cause the team let them back into it

I see all the complaining about the local media shunning Marlins Spring Training games, but I notice CBS4/UPN33 and NBC6/WB39 piping up most of the Marlins Spring Training Video that I see. Just because WSVN and WPLG ignore this team, as they always do, doesn't mean the media is shunning them.

Ahhhhh...finally the bottom of the ninth.

22-12

nate bump has given up at least two runs in the ninth

are we surprised?

Marlins win !!!!

Plenty of errors, 5 by Florida....4 by Washington

but it's always nice to win.....

a big HAHA to anyone who thinks the nationals are gonna finish in front of the fish

Because spring training games predict divisional placement.

Only Ortiz, who yes they did drill, will be on the MLB team this year amoung the pitchers and he might not even have a rotation spot if Astacio, Armas, and Drese beat him out. Which isn't that unlikely. With the hitters, only Church and Watson were in the lineup that have shots at starting. The Marlins should have pounded them with 5 regulers in the starting lineup, plus Helms. Don't get me wrong, It's very encouraging that they are getting hits, having success, and Johnson is taking care of business, but this was an incredibly scrub filled lineup for Washington today to start the game. If they did this against Livan, Majewski, Ayala, and Cordero, with Johnson, Zimmerman, Schiender, and Vidro in the lineup for the first half of the game, I'd be more excited then just "meh. good job."

The # 1 thing I like from today is Willingham showing defense at catcher. :pray

I assume that was sarcasm Swifty....the only word for today's game is excruciating...grrrrrrrrrrr

I assume he meant all the run scoring, not the fact it was impossible to find out stats and stuff during the game

Ortiz, who isn't much better than he showed today, is representative of what the Nationals will be throwing out there as a starting pitcher more than 60% of the time. Their defense is not going to do them in favors, with some combination of Guzman, Vidro and Soriano at the two most critical positions of a baseball diamond. Like PPS/JRS/DS, RFK may prevent homers, but it turns more singles into doubles and triples.

I think Lawrence and Guillen going out really help the Marlins chances. They are probably each worth around 3 wins. I would estimate Washington to be around 72-75 wins after those huge injuries. And that's with Soriano in LF..... Getting close though. Marlins are a legitimate OF or 2B away (or if Uggla, Reed, or Abercrombie actually hit) from hovering 70.

Just wanted to point out those 2 runs are unearned...
