Today's game: Marlins at Nationals

March 7 2006

When/where: 1:05 p.m., Space Coast Stadium, Viera.

TV/radio: None.

Marlins pitching: RHP Josh Johnson, RHP Kerry Ligtenberg, RHP Logan Kensing, RHP Jesus Delgado, RHP Nate Bump, LHP Josh Stewart, RHP Eddie Gaillard.

Opponent's pitching: RHP Ramon Ortiz, RHP Felix Rodriguez, LHP Joe Horgan, RHP Andrew Good, LHP Jim Crowell.

Worth noting: A handful of Marlins minor-leaguers will be in uniform for most Grapefruit League games. In the dugout Monday: infielders Jose Campusano, Brett Carroll, Brad McCann and Gaby Sanchez, outfielder Jai Miller, and right-hander Lincoln Holdzkom. ... LHP Taylor Tankersley turns 23 today. Including three split-squad games, the Marlins and Nationals will meet five times over the next eight days.

JJ needs to stay in the strike zone. He's had control issues in the past that carried into his last start. Methinks he's not quite ready for the big show. We'll probably end up seeing Willis, Moe, Vargas, Mitre, and Olsen in the rotation to start the year.

I'm not going to start a debate in a game thread but will just say I disagree and hope JJ earns a spot this spring.

I hope he earns one, too. I like him, but he's had control issues in the past. He walked two guys in two innings last outing. Hopefully he keeps improving.

Yeah dude, I'm with you there. That's the rotation I've envisioned since Spring Training began.. I wouldn't mind seeing that. I think these other guys still need some time in the minors.

Marlins up 1-0 in the top of the 1st. Three hits so far.

Looks like the Marlins are having a big inning. 5-0 now in the top of the 1st.

And minus Cabby... :D

6-0 now! :o

Matt Cepicky has homered off Ramon Ortiz in the 1st inning.

*high-fives RFerry*

Show off those bats Marlins!

:dwarf

nobody has yet mentioned that it was a granny! :hat

Hermida and Willingham still refuse to make an out :lol

Uggla, Hermida, Willingham to start off the next inning. Hopefully Beast gets back on track...singled in the first. Hermida singled in the first and Willy walked. 500+ OBP for both so far this spring.

holy crap, a granny?! are you finding box score updates already Sham?

Johnson escaped the first unscathed, allowing a single to Harris.

Has to agree with Hotcorner, if Cepicky makes the team Rferry deserves a hats off for calling that one :thumbup

absolutely. He deserves the starting job LF right now as far as I'm concerned...a platoon with Aguila would be nice...or even Aguila in CF because I absolutely don't want to see Reed there.

7-0.

save some for the regular season boys!

:D

How scored???
