March 19, 200620 yr Fidel Castro Cheers on Cuba?s Baseball Team SAN DIEGO. - President Fidel Castro has congratulated the Cuban baseball team for their efforts so far in the 1st World Baseball Classic (WBC), said manager Higinio Velez in a press conference on Friday. The Olympic champions faced teams stacked with US Major League players in Rounds 1 and 2 of the WBC, while playing in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Now, they face off with the Dominican Republic in a one-game semifinals match on Saturday afternoon in San Diego, California. Velez told reporters that before leaving for Puerto Rico the Cuban players met with President Fidel Castro, who loves baseball and is considered to be their leading fan. ?Before we left for the Classic, he got together with us, bid us farewell and did not demand that we win this tournament,? said Velez in San Diego. ?He just asked us to play good ball, do our best as a baseball team, and show the world the kind of baseball we play in Cuba." http://www.periodico26.cu/english/sports/fidel031806.htm

March 19, 200620 yr I don't care about him anymore. Screw it... I'm just going to root for my team and forget about him.
March 19, 200620 yr Another win for team Fidel. It is going to suck hearing the a**hole rub it in like there is no tomorrow. It seems like he always wins when it counts the most. :confused I just love what the manager said after the game against PR, "The is a great win for the Revolution". I will say this, play these games in August and Ortiz and Beltre jack those two pitches in the 8th inning. Joe Morgan was all over Team Fidel's dick the whole afternoon like he had been paid off.

I hope Korea/Japan destroy team Fidel...it's quite clear by now that these guys aren't amateurs. They're not amateurs because they CHOOSE TO, they're amateurs because they're OBLIGED TO BE. I would dare say that more than half of this team could be animals in the majors, and probably have more starpower than teams such as the DR, PR, Venezuela, which everyone expected to win!
