Posted April 25, 200619 yr #1 Uggla's selectivity and plate discipline Before last night he had only struck out 5 times in 58 ABs to go along with 6BB. 3K to "Z" is excusable. #2 Hammer's lack of Ks and high BA I expected a lot more K, BB, and fewer basehits. Congrats fellas and keep it going.
April 25, 200619 yr Totally agree. Especially about Uggla. But what about Miguel Olivo? He's batting a respectable .286, 3 homers, and 7 rbis. He's made a couple of boneheaded plays defensively, but he's also shown promise in getting that quick throw to second.

Yep absolutely...can't imagine what his OPS is in his last 20 ABs...I'll look it up. last 7 days... 14AB, 6H, 2 2B, 2HR, 5RBI, 1.429OPS The first couple days weren't pretty.
April 25, 200619 yr look at the walks & Ks for these guys: Cabs 10 BB, 15 K Hammer 6 BB, 9 K Uggla 6 BB, 8 K Jacobs 10 BB, 16 K Hermida 6 BB, 7 K :thumbup then on the not so good side... Hanley 6 BB, 19 K Abercrombie 2 BB, 16 K Olivo 1 BB, 8 K but Hanley & Olivo are slugging the heck out of the ball, so who cares.
April 25, 200619 yr I AGREE, totally! Our guys have been having great at bats and have been totally patient, which I have praised since the first game of the season! Give credit to Joe Girardi for that one, this team chose the right time to re-build with the right manager. My expectations are high for the future here, with a certain fix here and there, this team was built to win ball games.
April 25, 200619 yr Uggla's plate discipline has been a surprise. Willingham not so much as it was known he has a good feel for the strike zone. Ramirez is another one that has really surprised me.

April 25, 200619 yr Willy has exceeded my expectations. Not surprised at the plate discipline, but he looks like a seasoned veteran at each AB. It is a travesty that he wasn't used more in 04 and 05
April 25, 200619 yr Ya you have to love the production from our offense for the most part. They've made a couple of rookie mistakes and what not, but it seems like the majority of our issues are on the pitching side.

They've made a couple of rookie mistakes and what not, but it seems like the majority of our issues are on the pitching side. Love isn't the right word for how I feel about this offense as a whole. There are individual players who are being very productive (Shadez, Cabs, Willy), but the black holes in CF and RF (w/out Hermida) are killing this offense. They've scored the second fewest runs in the league, above only the Royals (albeit in a very small sample size), so I don't love the offense right now. While I am encouraged by some of the guys thus far, as a whole this team needs to score more runs if they want to rip off some kind of prolonged winning streak. The pitching hasn't been great by any means (once again, in a small sample size), but neither has the hitting. In fact it's easy to argue that as a team the hitting has been worse than the pitching.

April 25, 200619 yr The Hammer is doing everything Ramp has been talking about for the past three years :mischief .

I normally don't care, but I checked out your last bunch of posts and all pertain to me or something I've written...it's kinda creepy, so I figured I did something pretty serious to you. The Hammer is doing everything Ramp has been talking about for the past three years :mischief . ahem...?
April 25, 200619 yr The vast majority of those posts are in two threads. Stop acting like I'm stalking you just because you can't properly defend your incessant need to post a stat that is incredibly useless given the sample sizes.
April 25, 200619 yr Author will you give it freakin rest? using your flawed logic nobody could ever post the stats of a player that had a good game much less a hot week for fear of getting stalker sid up his/her rectum. You full well f***ing know that each time I posted these "worthless" stats that I didn't mean them to be sustainable at all or indicative of said player's true ability. You know this...so why do you keep acting like I think Cody Ross is the 2nd coming of Albert Pujols or Miguel Olivo the next Bench? It just seems like you're doing it for no good reason. I sure can't find any. Now shut the f*** up and get on with your life, if you're able.
April 26, 200619 yr Author it's 3 threads because you tried to bait me in the Brandon Phillips thread for some reason. very sad bro.
April 26, 200619 yr There's a difference between saying that a player went 4-4 with 2 homeruns or a pitcher had a complete game shut out than posting the OPS of players after 14 ABs.
