Posted May 10, 200618 yr Lie #1: Bush is dumb. He is not smart enough to be President. Truth: Bush has an Undergraduate and Master?s Degree from Yale, an Ivy League college. He is only the second President in the history of our country to have such a degree. Truth: It is impossible to be dumb, and be elected President of the United States. Even an idiot should know that. ...................................................................................................................................................... Lie #2: Global Warming, caused by the emission of greenhouse gasses, will melt the ice caps and cause massive global flooding. ''In 50 years New York City is going to be underwater from global warming,'' ? 2002, former president Bill Clinton. Truth: Democratic leaders, who profess the importance of education, are constantly lying to the American people, and particularly to their base, the ignorant and ill-informed who are eating this stuff up and spreading it like wildfire. Watch C-Span, and you will get the picture too. Truth: In 400 years of measuring global temperatures, the temperature has only increased 3/4 of one Degree. Truth: Ice expands when it freezes, that?s why ice floats above the water?s surface, and contracts when it melts. Thus, any floating ice (like the entire North Pole) when it melts, will not add any volume whatsoever to the oceans. Truth: Only land-based ice can add to the volume of water in the oceans. Truth: The overwhelming majority of land based ice is on the continent of Antarctica, where the average year around temperature is more than 60 degrees below zero. The average temperature would have to rise by more than 60 degrees to melt the Antarctic ice cap. Hardly something we need to worry about in the near future. Truth: Natural Global Warming, and Global Cooling, has been documented by scientists over millions of years. In general it runs in 10,000-year cycles. We are currently at the end of one of those cycles. We are soon, within a hundred to a thousand years, to enter a period of thousands of years of Global Cooling, a far more dangerous prospect to life on Earth than Global Warming. .................................................................................................................................................... Lie #3: Bush stole the election through the Supreme Court. Gore had more votes, and should have won. Bush is an illegitimate president. Truth: Gore, not Bush, contested the results of the election in Florida, filing a complaint to be settled in the courts, not the ballot box, where George Bush won the vote count. Truth: It was Gore, not Bush, who placed the fate of the election into the courts. Bush had already won Florida. Truth: Two subsequent state-wide recounts, after the election, one by the left wing St. Petersburg Times, proved that George Bush won the popular vote in Florida. Truth: Under our system of electing our leaders, the popular vote is not the determining factor. Each state gets allotted electoral votes loosely based on state populations. Then whoever wins the popular vote in the state, gets all of the electoral votes. ....................................................................................................................................................... Lie #4: The only reason for Bush going to war with Iraq is to get their oil, and line his own pockets. Truth: This slanderous Democratic allegation was totally un-American, bordering on treason, and was never backed up by any evidence or supporting facts. It insinuated the President of the United States was a liar and a criminal. ....................................................................................................................................................... Lie #5: Bush wants to abolish Social Security Truth: Another slanderous Democratic lie designed to scare senior citizens. Truth: Bush wants to help make Social Security more efficient by allowing people some control over the money that is deducted from their pay. Truth: The Democrats don?t want this because the payroll taxes currently go into the general fund and are used, at least partially, for discretionary spending. If enacted, Democrat?s will have to either raise taxes, or reduce spending, to maintain their spending habits. ..................................................................................................................................................... Lie #6: Bush is a liar. Truth: Bush is one of the most honest, forthright Presidents in history. Truth: Democrats can?t recognize Bush?s sincerity because they think lying is what all Presidents do to stay in power. Truth: Democrat?s have to lie to the American People. If Democrat?s told the truth about what they really want the people would throw them out on their ear. Truth: Democrat?s want to raise taxes, but they won?t admit it. Democrat?s want to scale back our military superiority, but they won?t admit it. Democrat?s are against developing an anti-ballistic missile shield, but they won?t admit it. Democrat?s are against getting tough with our enemies, but they won?t admit it. Democrat?s are agnostics, but they won?t admit it. Democrat?s are against civilian ownership of guns, but they won?t admit it. Democrat?s fear patriotism, but they won?t admit it. Democrat?s prefer socialism, but they won?t admit it. Democrat?s think the American people are dumb, but they won?t admit it. Democrat?s are hoping the economy goes into the tank, but they won?t admit it. Democrat?s are hoping things in Iraq go badly, but they won?t admit it. They have to lie, they know they will never get back the power they lost, if they tell the truth to a now right-leaning public. ........................................................................................................................................................ Lie #7: Bush tax cut was only for the rich. Truth: To a Democrat, rich is anyone making a decent living. Truth: Everyone who pays taxes, got a tax cut. Truth: The rich are the only ones who can afford to hire employees. Truth: The rich are the only ones able to afford new technologies, providing a test market for new products. Products such as Television, Cell-phones, Computers, Fax Machines, etc., etc., were all made possible by the rich. Truth: The rich form companies and provide employment. Truth: The rich are the backbone of our economic and military strength. Truth: The rich provide the majority of funds for charities and foundations. Truth: The rich provide an incentive to become rich, a possibility and a dream of every American. Truth: Democrats are constantly demonizing the rich, but they are the goose that laid the golden egg. Kill the goose, and that?s the end of the eggs. Truth: Democrats would rather have no tax cut than one that would help the rich, but since the rich pay 90% of all U.S. taxes, it?s pretty hard to design a tax bill that would not help them. Therefore, with Democrats in power, there were never any tax cuts for anybody. ........................................................................................................................................................... Lie #8: This is the worst economy since Herbert Hoover ? John Kerry, 8/6/03, Presidential Candidate and current U.S. Senator. An outrageous lie, that is reiterated on a daily basis, by the Democratic Leadership. Truth: The stock market is up 23% this year. Truth: The recession that started in the last year of the Clinton Administration has been declared over by the think tank that keeps track of these things. Truth: The GDP (gross domestic product), the leading indicator of economic activity in the U.S. is higher than it has ever been. Truth: The economy is effected by consumer confidence. Truth: Frightening the Americans about the state of the economy could, in itself, create an economic downturn. Truth: Democrat?s are not only hoping the economy falters, but are trying their best to make it happen. Truth: Democrat?s are only interested in their return to power, and will say or do anything to get it back. ........................................................................................................................................................... Lie #9: Bush lied about Iraq?s weapons of mass destruction. (His only reason for going to war with Iraq.) Truth: Everyone thought Iraq had biological and chemical WMDs, and were seeking nuclear weapons, including former President Clinton, and still presumably Prime Minister Tony Blair. Truth: It was not only WMDs, but the fear that a man of Saddam Hussein?s character and hatred for the United States, would not hesitate to assist terrorist determined to hurt the United States. Truth: Other reasons were cited by the President, included the tortures to Iraqi citizens, like throwing screaming people into tree shredders, sometimes feet first to prolonging the inhumanity. And Saddam Hussein?s support of Hamas, a known terrorist group, by paying the families of suicide bombers a bonus of $25,000. .................................................................................................................................................... Lie #10: Bush squandered a 300 billion dollar surplus. Truth: The event of 9/11, the collapse of Enron, the collapse of .com companies, Gore challenging the election in the courts, and the subsequent war on terrorism all contributed to the deficit we now face. Truth: Bush had no control over the devastating economic loss caused by 9/11. Truth: Bush had no control over Al Gore?s challenge to the election causing an immediate 20% drop in the stock market. Truth: Bush had nothing to do with the collapse of Enron and other corporate giants. Truth: Bush had nothing to do with the collapse of .com companies. Truth: 9/11, an act of war against the United States, required a military response. Truth: Even Democrat?s know, but won?t admit, that tax cuts stimulate the economy and represent only a small portion of the current deficit. ........................................................................................................................................................ Lie #11: Bush's Tax Cuts haven't worked. Note: The lies keep piling up, so now there is more than 10. Truth: Thank's to Democratic action in the U.S. Senate, Bush's first round of tax cuts to the "rich" were set to begin in the year 2005. (How could they work if they were not in effect?) His second round of tax cuts changed the effective date retroactive to 2003, and did not take effect until May of 2003. We are now in August, and to the Democrat's dismay, in this short period of time, the economy is starting to react to these cuts. The stock market is up, the housing market is at an all-time high, inflation is under control, the GDP is at record levels, and consumer confidence and spending is on the upswing. The only thing left, is for the Democrat's to prey for higher unemployment ? an unlikely scenerio under the circumstances. ........................................................................................................................................................ Lie #12: "Bush turned a 5 trillion dollar surplus into a 5 trillion dollar defecit." Wesley Clark 9/17/03 Truth: The projected defecit for 2003 is 450 billion dollars. Evidentally, the general has trouble with billions and trillions, or he knows the difference, but believes Democrat's don't. Truth: There never was a 5 trillion dollar surplus. ........................................................................................................................................................ Lie #13: "Bush's failed policies has caused a 2.7 million job loss" Wesley Clark 9/17/03 Truth: 9/11 caused the job loss, along with a downturn in the economy that started in the last year of the Clinton administration. 9/11 also caused a 370 billion loss to the economy, plus a three trillion dollar capital loss in the stock market crash that immediately followed this disaster. Truth: Bush's policies since 9/11 has caused a rebound in the economy which eventually will result in more jobs for people. Truth: At the peak of Clinton's administration the unemployment rate was 3.7 percent. Our unemplyment rate is 6.1 percent and dropping. The difference is only 2.4 percent. During the Hoover administration the rate was 35 percent unemployed. This is hardly a good comparison, but the Democrats keep using it anyway. Either they are ignorant, or they think we are. What will these flip flopping Democrat's think of next? Stay tuned Here are some REAL pics in Iraq not from the "AP"....haha http://www.lifelikepundits.com/archives/002388.php
May 10, 200618 yr Oh those slanderous Democratic lies. They should abolish the whole party and we should just be republicans. Guaranteed someone can find a counter all of these. I expect many of those dumb liberals on this very site could in a few minutes time (FutureGM get to work!). And besides, just because you graduate from an Ivy League doesn't make you a brain trust. I mean, the dude did say "internets." Oh, well, I don't care enough to debate most of these anyways. People overreact on both sides to things Bush does, be it by boohooing or running to pat him on the back.

Let's be honest, most people don't give a sh*t about elections. Most people vote a stupid party line and that's it. Most people are also uneducated hell. All facts.

May 10, 200618 yr A good many of these statements very likely don't represent the views of the majority of the Democrats. I'm referring specifically to lies #4, 5, 7, 8, and 12. And the responses to lies #6 and #9 aren't really even responses. The other 6 "lies" may be worthy of discussion, but when over half of this list is boldly off-target it becomes pretty easy to dismiss the whole exercise as the work of someone who is blindly partisan. I hope this isn't your work.

May 10, 200618 yr Author but is bush smarter than me? if he is than prove it. No offense DAS but George Bush is the President of the United States with multiple degrees. You have 14,000 + posts on a website. I would go out on a limb and say yes, he's smarter. :plain
May 10, 200618 yr Lie #6: Bush is a liar. "We recently found two mobile biological weapons facilities which were capable of producing biological agents." (may 2003) http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/20...20030605-1.html Lie #9: Bush lied about Iraq?s weapons of mass destruction. (His only reason for going to war with Iraq.) Inspectors, he said, found no evidence of "concerted efforts to restart the program." "The former regime had no formal written strategy or plan for the revival of WMD after sanctions. Neither was there an identifiable group of WMD policy makers or planners separate from Saddam" tasked to take this up once sanctions ended. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/artic...5-2004Oct6.html :whistle i could go on but you get the point.

May 10, 200618 yr "Lie" #1: Bush Is Dumb. -The Real Truth: He was a C student at Yale, not exactly the greatest of a student. He was arrested at least once for a DUI around/not long after college. He was also known to have used plenty of drugs. "Lie" #2: Global Warming -The Real Truth: Global warming isn't some crazy conspiracy cooked up by Democrats, although I'm sure you certainly might believe that. Globally, only a handful of scientists oppose the theory of global warming. The vast majority believe that it is a real threat. But I guess scientists shouldn't be trusted, right? "Lie" #3: Bush Stole the 2000 Election -The Real Truth: The 2000 election was extremely close because the country clearly had no favorite between Bush and Gore. Neither one was a great option, and the voting turnout was low for this election. Although Gore did win the popular vote, he did not get enough electoral college votes. I haven't heard people on the left wing saying that Bush stole the 2000 election since....2000. That's a very old claim. "Lie" #4: Bush Went to War in Iraq for Oil -The Real Truth: There's very good reason for people to be suspicious about Bush's motives in the war. First the administration claimed that Iraq was an imminent threat to the security of the United States, with VP Cheney going so far as to say that if we wait for a 'smoking gun', it will arrive in the form of a mushroom cloud. Of course, after three years in Iraq, it's pretty clear that there were no WMDs to begin with. The book that shows the entire history of the Iraq War, "Cobra II", shows that Saddam admitted to his highest generals and officials that he did not have WMDs, even though he had made past claims to their existence. It turned out that he had purposely kept the status of his WMD programs unknown, because he was afraid that he might be overthrown or attacked by Iran if the Shi'ites or the Iranians found out he had nothing to hurt them with. Iraq's foreign minister attended this meeting, and then informed US intelligence that Saddam did not have any WMDs. He was on the CIA's payroll at the time. However, this information was ignored for one reason or another and forgotten. The lack of HUMINT (human intelligence) sources in Iraq prior to the war led to the misconception that Iraq still had WMD's. In reality, UN sanctions worked better than expected, and Saddam was unable to reconstitute his WMD programs after the Gulf War. Back to the oil: Bush owned an unsuccessful oil company which was primarily funded by Saudis who were doing George HW Bush a favor. His company didn't last very long. Meanwhile, Dick Cheney had to resign his position as chairman of Haliburton in order to be on the Republican ticket in 2000. He received a nice severance package of close to $10 million. Three years into the Bush term, Haliburton is handed the keys to run most of the operations of Iraq, in exchange for a multi-billion dollar government contract. Many reports have surfaced since they received this contract that the company has been misconducting their operations in Iraq from the very beginning. They have cut many corners to save money. Any rational person has to see the conflict of interest in the VP of the United States, who used to chair Haliburton, awarding a massive contract to his former company. "Lie" #5: Bush Wants to Abolish Social Security -The Real Truth: Now, I know this one has to be made up. I've never heard a single person ever make this claim. I'd like to see some evidence. "Lie" #6: Bush Is a Liar. -The Real Truth: The most damaging evidence comes from the President's 2003 State of the Union address. In it, he claims that Iraq is in the process of purchasing yellowcake nuclear materials from Niger to use in their nuclear weapons program. However, the CIA had found out several weeks before the speech that this information was false, through the investigation of Ambassador Joe Wilson. As we all know, Wilson's discovery that the yellowcake story was false caused some in the administration to get revenge on Wilson by revealing to reporter Robert Novak that his wife, Valerie Plame-Wilson, was an operative for the CIA. At the time, she was attempting to find out information on the status of Iran's nuclear weapons program. This was compromised by her outing. The CIA had told the Bush White House to take the Niger yellowcake claim out of the State of the Union address, but obviously they kept it in anyway. Bush had been told that this information was false, and, for whatever reason, the claim was left in the speech regardless. This needs to be explained by the President. "Lie" #7: Bush's Tax Cuts are only for the Rich. -The Real Truth: Most of the tax cuts issued so far in the Bush Administration have been extremely pro-business. Bush, who in 2000 was given a large sum of money from Enron for his campaign, has always been a President that supports big business. Despite rising gas prices, Bush has made no move to revoke the incentives given to the major US oil companies, which they do not need these days. With record profits across the board, the government should not need to help out Big Oil anymore. "Lie" #8: The Economy is Bad. -The Real Truth: Yes, the stock market is posting near record volume these days. However, there are plenty of other signs that the economy could be in trouble. The high price of gasoline has already begun to affect multiple sectors of the economy, ranging from transportation and retail to the U.S. Postal System. Just this week, the US Postal System said that it was planning yet another price hike. As most people know, a rate increase just went into effect January 8th. The Postal Service now claims that the rising cost of gas is forcing them to propose another rate hike, which would go into effect this time next year. Meanwhile, sectors of the economy that rely on gasoline to do business are feeling the crunch as their operating costs rise. If gas prices continue to rise, the average person is going to have to pay more each time they fill up at the pump. As this occurs, they will then not be able to spend as much money on retail goods. That will eventually lead to lower revenue for the retail sector. Another economic concern is the possibility that some nations may switch over to the Euro from the dollar. If this happens in a lot of nations, it will greatly impact the US and the World economy in a negative way. The reason that the price of gold has increased so much lately is a side effect of worries about the dollar's stability. "Lie" #9: Bush Lied About WMDs. -The Real Truth: As I said in point #4, the administration had plenty of intelligence available showing that Iraq had no WMDs. Powell's claims of mobile bio labs had been taken from information provided from an unreliable source. Trailers were later found by US ground forces, but they turned out to be mobile field kitchens. The administration had no direct evidence, at any time, that Iraq had any WMD programs. Any information they had on WMD programs was far too old, dating back to the first Gulf War or shortly after. The CIA had no HUMINT sources in Iraq whatsoever, besides Saddam's Foreign Minister, who warned the US that Saddam had no WMDs. The only attempt to justify the war was made at the UN, where Powell gave a presentation to the UN filled with data that was questionably reliable at the time, and proved unreliable later. The administration listened far too much to the claims of the Kuwaitis, who continued to say that Saddam had a large weapons program. However, they had zero evidence that this was true. Instead, they likely told the US this in order to get Saddam removed. Questionable characters like Ahmad Chalabi were heavily supported by the administration. The reality is, Chalabi knew nothing of what was actually going on in Iraq. He had been exiled from the country for many years, and was later found to have made up most of his claims of Iraqi WMDs in order to grab power in a post-Saddam Iraq. "Lie" #10: Bush Squandered a $300 billion surplus. -The Real Truth: This president has outspent most Democratic presidents over his two terms of office. I agree that he had no control over 9/11, or the corporate scandals. However, his idea that the government could give tax cuts and also spend crazy amounts of money on both defense spending and the new Department of Homeland Security at the same time, was not smart. DHS was a bad idea to begin with, as it has done nothing more than bloat the federal budget, and increase the growing Washington bureaucracy. The two heads of DHS have been under heavy criticism for mismanagement and failure to act properly during disaster situations. The creation of DHS made it a lot harder for the government to react quickly to a natural disaster, as seen in the whole Katrina fiasco. I have not seen any evidence that this new Department has done anything good for the country yet. One thing that Bush was completely in control of, is the expensive Iraq War. There was no pressing need to go to war in Iraq, and he knew it. As I said, there was plenty of evidence that Iraq wasn't even a threat to its' neighbors anymore, let alone Israel or the US. The war has cost something like $800 billion in its' three years of operation. If this money had not been spent, the economic effect of 9/11 and the corporate scandals would not have been nearly as hard on the federal budget and national debt. "Lie" #11: Bush's Tax Cuts Haven't Worked. -The Real Truth: I really have no idea what the effect of the tax cuts has been. However, I believe them to be completely unnecessary. I'm not sure who has claimed that they have not worked. "Lie" #12: Wes Clark Statement -The Real Truth: You pretty much answered that yourself. It was just an incorrect statement by former General Wesley Clark. He does not represent the entire Democratic party. No idea why that would be on the list. "Lie" #13: 2nd Wes Clark Statement -The Real Truth: Again, this was just Wes Clark saying something that he probably didn't know anything about, and isn't grounds for an argument. For the record, it would have been nice if you could have actually stated your own opinions, rather than steal someone else's.
May 10, 200618 yr Stupid... Gee, this is an opinion with no factual basis provided passed as fact to counter a lie. Dumb. The five trillian was a projected 15 year result. It actually went from 2.7 trillion surplus to 7.5 trillian or so deficit. That makes this counted STUPID. Whoever wrote that is kinda out there...
May 10, 200618 yr Lie #1: Bush is dumb. He is not smart enough to be President. Truth: Bush has an Undergraduate and Master?s Degree from Yale, an Ivy League college. He is only the second President in the history of our country to have such a degree. Truth: It is impossible to be dumb, and be elected President of the United States. Even an idiot should know that. ...................................................................................................................................................... :lol :lol I just stopped reading after this one And for anyone who thinks Bush actually had the intellectual ability, or the grades to get into Yale... Two words: Legacy Admission
May 10, 200618 yr Bush is a liar. Now thats the truth. By the way, Clinton was a liar too. Dont you understand, their all the same. Goverment=lies.
May 10, 200618 yr Oh those slanderous Democratic lies. They should abolish the whole party and we should just be republicans. Guaranteed someone can find a counter all of these. Just because he is a "good ole boy" and is a HORRIBLE public speaker, it does not reflect his vast knowledge. Two things. First, he got into Yale because he was a legacy. Second, he graduated with a C average. He's not dumb, but he's also not an intellectual. In terms of intelligence, I think every president but one since Hoover has him beat - FDR, Truman, Eisenhower, JFK, LBJ, Nixon, Bush I, and Clinton. Bush may indeed be smarter than Reagan was, but I doubt that too.
May 10, 200618 yr Bush is a liar. Now thats the truth. By the way, Clinton was a liar too. Dont you understand, their all the same. Goverment=lies. shhh, dont tell them the secret that they are all the same. And strangely enough almost all masons too hmmm. :mischief2
May 10, 200618 yr Global warming has had alot of studies done etc etc, and alot say it doesn't have the effect on the climate as most are saying. Iraq had WMD. People continuously saying they didnt are morons. Not only did he use them, with extreme prejudice, on the kurds during the Iraq/Iran conflict(sarin, vx, and likely tabun gas as well), I have seen first hand, soldiers from my former regiment, who were hit with blister agent from a artillery shell. Did Saddam have nuclear capabilities? No, although I dont doubt he tried. Did he have biological weapons? I'd say it's likely. Did he have chemical weapons? This is a definate yes. Anyone who says otherwise, sorry, is a complete moron. Back to global warming, alot of the problem is yes...the earth is heating up. But this probably has less to do with greenhouse gasses than the fact that we are still in the back end of an ice age, which is tapering off, naturally causing the earth to become warmer.
May 10, 200618 yr Iraq had WMD. No one claims he didn't ever have WMD. But did he have them in the past year before the invasion. We know as fact he was working on them as late as 1997. We have a known biological weapons lab that was shut down at that time (he used political prisoners as guinea pigs, we know that too). We know he was really big into chemical weapons, and even had a nuclear weapons program, though no one would deal with him so that never really got off the ground. The IGS survey implies the only reason Saddam shut down his weapons programs was because they were too expensive to maintain with the sanctions in place. We now know he had no active weapons programs, but continued to make it look like he did so as not to seem week. However, we also know he did not destroy everything he was order to. We did find chemical weapon warheads, some loaded with really old and degraded sarin gas. Heck, one filled with expired cyclosarin was modifed into an IED and used to attack US soldiers. We know the areas he claims to have disposed of his weapons stock test clean when they shouldn't. There's a little concern there, but not much because of the age those stocks would be by now.
May 10, 200618 yr Interesting story, sligtly off topic, one of the heavy infantry humvees(carrying a .50 cal, my humvee had a MK19 grenade launcher) in my company hit a tank buster mine somewhere outside of Najef. But, since it was a relic from the Iraq/Iran war, the yield was diminished, and just totalled the humvee, but everyone inside was ok(altho...the gunner did get thrown out). But the NCO in the truck was eating cheese tortallini from an MRE and spilled all the red sauce on him, and was so disoriented he thought he was bleeding out. None of the 3 in the truck could hear for a few days though, but at least they were ok.
May 10, 200618 yr The five trillian was a projected 15 year result. It actually went from 2.7 trillion surplus to 7.5 trillian or so deficit. That makes this counted STUPID. Whoever wrote that is kinda out there... Your numbers are a bit off. First off, another lie was Clinton's proclamation that we had a $70 billion surplus in 1998. It was actually a $113 billion deficit. The last annual surplus we had was in 1960 ($581 million). However, the annual deficit did get down to about $18 billion in fiscal 2000, which was the closest we've come to a surplus since the 1969 $10 billion deficit. As for the national debt, to which your figures more closely match, it was about $4.188 trillion when Clinton came in, and rose about 38% to $5.728 trillion when he left - without ever incurring a surplus. As of yesterday, the debt was $8.364 trillion - a ludicrous increase of about 46% in the 5+ years of the Bush administration. Source: US Treasury
