The Train

Featured Replies

I missed half the game, but he looked pretty bad in the 1st inning. Still can't believe he completed the game with only 6 hits and 1 run.

Was he dominating later in the game?

I posted this on the game thread but here is again.

Willis last 6 starts:

8 IP, 1 ER

7 IP, 2 ER

6 IP, 2 ER

8 IP, 2 ER

9 IP, 2 ER

9 IP, 1 ER

ERA: 1.91

He has been terrific. It's amazing how he doesn't let all of the trade rumors affect his play. I give him a lot of credit and hopefully he continues to pitch well.

He was unhittable in the middle of the game. The 8th and 9th innings were kinda shaky.

solid.

One more start like last night and his ERA is back under 4.

i was sleeping through the whole afternoon and when i woke up to watch the game it was 2nd and 3rd one out with 1 run in in the 1st inning. he pitched out of the jam and from then on out and didnt allow another run, he pitched really well like the dontrelle of old, cuz he was able to get out of jams wit the ground ball double play.

I know it only take 1 bad outing to raise your ERA by half a point to 10 points in the first month but D-Train is much better then this. Well I think it is better that his ERA is low 4 to mid 3 while dominating so our GM will have a hard time finding a trade.

lol... if anything, that would make it easier

Here's the only thing that worries me in his stats right now:

Last 6 starts:

BB/K

3/3

1/3

3/4

3/3

3/3

2/0

Total:

15/16.

He's walking too many people right now, the pitching coach needs to have him work on that. Walks can really come back to hurt you in a game.

He's a groundout pitcher, not a strike out one. As long Ramirez can throw right or Jacobs can catch them all, he'll be find. His ball ratio is 2.5. Not bad for a couple complete games.

The bad K/BB is actually a good thing...Because he's still kicking ass even with those mistakes. Once he gets the walks down, look out!

With about 10 extra pitches for walk every game, he has prove he has endurance and can prevent clutch hitting when it really count. 2 complete games in the last 6 games.

No, it's not a good thing. It means he's been lucky but sooner or later those sort of gaudy stats catch up with you

No, it's never a good thing in terms of production. But in terms of potential, it's a VERY good thing. He hasn't even been pitching with great control and STILL getting some great outings.

You have to look at it like this:

What's more likely to happen?

D-Train to continue at a 1:1 pace

or

D-Train cutting down on the walks and having a better ratio?

Considering he has had 7 quality starts in a row with a 1.91 ERA I wouldnt lose to much sleep over it.

now the only part of his game he needs to improve is his hitting....i'd love to see him when the silver slugger ....keep it up d-train!

Yeah I was getting concern about his hitting too. 2 weeks ago his avg was under .200. I was very worry about him with bad pitching start and hitting too :( . I know he is suppose to be a pitcher but what is his avg right now? Yes I am very concern about a pitcher hitting, he suppose to have a .260! :mad

He is a pitcher first and needed to get that on track first. The hitting for him may come or not-I don't care as long as he pitches the way he is currently
