June 14, 200620 yr This is the thread where we will discuss the best music in the history of video games. And here's what we will be discussing: The main theme to Double Dragon, since that is obviously the greatest music ever to be featured on a video game. It's almost pointless to argue at this point.
June 15, 200620 yr Killer7. Game has some great music. Bonk for the Turbo-Grafx had some awesome music as well.
June 15, 200620 yr The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Best music ever in a video game. Great choice! However for me, LoZ: OoT comes in at second at my all time best video game music. Top spot? A little game called Super Metroid back in 1994. The music is so atmospheric and so moody that you get sucked into the game. It really goes a long way into establishing that you are just one man (or woman in this case) against an entire alien space army.
June 15, 200620 yr Mike Tyson's Punch-Out. Then Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (Danzig's "Mother" and the whole NWA crew's library that's on there makes it worth the price of admission, YEAH!!!).

June 15, 200620 yr Final Fantasy VII No contest. Only video game soundtrack I've ever bought, or even considered buying.
June 15, 200620 yr Author This is also great Final Fantasy music. Final Fantasy VI. It's orchestrated versions of the SNES game music.
June 15, 200620 yr Damn, I thought we were going to discuss best music to listen to while playing video games.... n/m

June 15, 200620 yr A lot of Final Fantasy games have great soundtracks. Legend of Zelda's is incredible. Metroid's is awesome. I can't say but LOZ: OoT is my favorite that I can think of. Though, Metroid Prime has a really creepy soundtrack.
June 15, 200620 yr Final Fantasy VII was a great soundtrack. I'd also have to add Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, though that's a lot of already done hits put into one big thing.

That's a great one. I remember playing it in Arcades and having that damn thing stuck in my head.
June 15, 200620 yr Chrono Trigger has one of my favorite videogame soundtracks. Halo and Halo 2's music is also great, really adds to the feel of the game. As far as licensed music, I love the Vice City soundtrack.
June 15, 200620 yr Once you hear the FF7 victory music, you never forget it. dun duh da DUN DUN DUN DUHDUDU
June 15, 200620 yr Final Fantasy VII No contest. Only video game soundtrack I've ever bought, or even considered buying. You da man, u never been more right.
June 17, 200620 yr yeah good call passion. no love for Super Mario Brothers? You know SMB music is memorable, however nowhere near as fantastic as some of the others that have been mentioned. I'd also like to submit Mega Man 2 for the NES as one of the best soundtracks of all time. Anyone who's ever played it can tell you that it just rocks from beginning to end.
June 17, 200620 yr FF series were great always but everyone knows contra, SMB, Zelda ( I love the rock band remakes for it)
June 17, 200620 yr The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Best music ever in a video game. I second that motion. I still remember the little songs you could play on the ocarina, and hum them occasionally. :mischief
June 17, 200620 yr I'm no expert on the matter, but the music in Marble Madness is considered to be groundbreaking for some reason.
