Hitting problems

The Marlins have been on a tear but the offence has not. S lot of the team success has been masked by the outstanding pitching but I am worried about the offence. Ramirez is not reaching base and after Ross, we have pre-out like players. You think hannly can turn it around?

Oh boy here comes Mr. Negativity :banghead

I read something a while back that Hanely was playing with an injured hand, obviously something is wrong iwth him since his BA has dropped tremendously.

That suppose to be my job! :banghead

This is my third game this week and I'm here to say Jeremy Hermida looks like a deer caught in some headlights at the plate. He's tentative, almost seems like he's looking for the walk and not trying to hit. Very, very disappointing to see.

And Hanley, well I hope it's his hand problem because he looks completely outclassed up there almost every at bat. It's almost like he's been reading the "Reggie Abercrombie Book of Baseball" in his spare time.

Well Hermida is looking for the walk a lot but thats his game (walks as good as a hit) but he does appear to be tentative.

The question is.......have we yet to see the real Jeremy Hermida? Its not like he has had a TON of consecutive games played in the majors.

Did losing the #2 spot have some effect on Hermida? Did all the pre-season ROY hype get to him a bit?

I still think Hermida is going to bust out big this year but watching his at bats has become strange.

Maybe someone gave him a copy of Eric Reeds bestseller, "Fundamentals of Hitting Volume II".

I'm really not confident when I see Hermida at the plate. I didn't feel the same way last year, he seemed to take control in his at-bats. Some guys get praised for being patient, but i think we all remember Hee Seop Choi, who 1/4 of the way through the season became afraid to swing.

Ypu have to be patient with Hermida. he just came of a terrible injury that could affect him this season. he is still patient. Just give him time

Hanely is playing banged up, but I think he's slumping for other reasons as well. At first I wanted to sit him for a few games to get his health up a little, but after reading Joe's comments from last night I like that they're letting shadez take his lumps. Girardi reasoned that Hanley is slumping, yes, and therefore needs as many ABs as possible to make the necessary adjustments. The more ABs he gets the quicker changes will come. That's mostly paraphrased from JoeyG.

He has been injured for like 3 times this year, so you cannot expect him to break out of this slump so quicky. But I expect him to break out of it soon. :mischief2

I agree thats the only way to get yourself hitting again. :thumbup

I think Hermida stands out because he is the one who is actually playing like a rookie :) I honestly have no fears regarding his development, in fact I still see him as putting up better numbers over the next few seasons then our other young hitters (Cabrera excluded of course).
