June 18, 200620 yr I decided to make a thread so we can chat about how great the homestand was. Who would have thought this team would sweep BOTH the Braves and Jays. Feel free just to post whatever you want that has to do with this last homestand. It can be anything. The only thing I was worried about was the bullpen. They kinda looked shakey this homestand. Hopefully its just a phase. (edit) The bullpen did great getting out of jams (Especially the 2nd game of the Braves series) but they kept getting into them. Walks, hits etc:. (editing over). The starting pitching was wonderful. JJ recovering from the shakey start to pitch over 5 solid innings. Who would have thought. I went to the game on Saturday and I could not believe how many die hard Marlins fans there were at the game. I sat in the upperdeck- row 7- behind home plate. People behind me were bragging about how wonderful Uggla was. They were cheering on Hanley eventhough he is struggling. This one lady kept calling the players "Honey" it was so funny. Sounds like me :mischief . I even wore my Marlins shoes. My mom said people were staring at my shoes all night :lol . Eventhough we dont have good attendance the people who go to these games absolutely love this team. I love my boys! :kiss
June 19, 200620 yr I wish I would have gone to some of the games. I was supposed to go on Thursday & Saturday but ended up not going.
June 19, 200620 yr I went on Saturday, and saw an excellent game where we roughed up on the Jays' pitching pretty bad.

JJ recovering from the shakey start to pitch over 5 solid innings. Who would have thought. Poor bullpen. They allowed one run the entire homestand...one run in 15.1 innings. That's not shaky; that's stellar.
June 19, 200620 yr Yeah, the pen has been pretty awesome during the homestand....don't know what your watchin Holly.

June 19, 200620 yr Just like LSU defensive end Marcus Spears said during LSU's Nat'l Championship run in '03: "You gotta start respectin us, or we'll hit you in the mouf." I think this team has a chip on its shoulder. They're out to prove the world wrong... which is fine with me! I really did not think we would sweep the Jays. I figured we'd have the Braves number by now, but I honestly thought that this is where our luck would run thin, but what can you say. This team wants to win, and expects to win. They're so young, they don't know any better. Again, which is totally fine with me.
June 19, 200620 yr I am so thrilled. I honestly did not think that the Marlins would even win two games against the Jays. Hot damn. We held the best hitting team in the AL to four runs throughout the series. Incredible. I belive! Wild Card or bust. :mischief
June 19, 200620 yr Great atmosphere at the game today, I've not seen so many fans smiling and talking to complete strangers since the back end of 2003. People are really enjoying how the guys are playing at the moment - we could've been buried in the first, but the character really came through and it was a delight to see...!
June 19, 200620 yr I was at the game Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. I had a blast. Having the Marlins win all four games was certainly worth the money and effort of coming down there. And now the Marlins come to the place where I live. :mischief Planes, buses, cabs, train stations (:plain)...now I can walk to the game if I wanted to. :thumbup Can I assume you saw some of Olivo's Heroics early on in yesterday's and today's game? :mischief
June 19, 200620 yr Great fun all weekend. Most people I spoke with agree this season is far more satisfying that either 2004 or 2005 and that fans (at least those in attendance) are really connecting with this team.
June 19, 200620 yr It was a great homestand espically sweeping the braves it seemed like we always lose the series to them and tacking on the sweep of the jays was just sweet.
June 19, 200620 yr In my most humble opinion this Homestand is probably one the best in the whole history of the Marlins...The pitching couldn't have been any better. This team wasn't gonna lose!
