Welcome Home Mikey

Well i know that i will def. be cheering for all of them, but make no mistake, i'm going to the game to support the fish and I want them to sweep them badly. If Mike and Gonzo can go 0 for 24 combined, with 23 k's that'd be awesome. I don't want them coming up here and hitting hr's and padding their stats. I just welcome the player, the guy that gave his all for our team and helped deliver a championship. That's all.

Screw Mike Lowell. He was paid $8+ million last year to play as terribly as Abercrombie. He was drowning this team with his incompetence, and was one of the major reasons why we failed last year (his drop off in RBI production and HRs was a huge reason).

With all the talk about Beckett and Lowell, you're forgetting someone ;)

I'd say he's been pretty good at SS ;)

Good riddance.

If you want to say "good riddance" to Moehler and Olsen as well... :thumbup

Its Hard for me to root for anyone not wearing a Marlins jersey so I wont! :whistle :whistle Sorry Mikey!!!

Incompetent??? Surely you jest! Not in Fenway! He;s playing better than before!

you didn't get your SS on a trade from us. At least you should get that part right

Well, unlike the rest of you, I hope Lowell hits a couple HRs this series. And I hope the Marlins win. But, really, if either happens, I'll be happy enough.

And I'll cheer for Gonzalez, but in his case, I don't care what he does on the field.

I'll give Alex and Mikey a cheer when they announce their names before action is underway, but I refuse to cheer them if they start getting hits off D-Train, Moe or JJ. Just like I wouldn't cheer for Josh Beckett in-game, my favorite Marlin of all time, if he were to pitch and strike out Miggy. When they do well, Alex and Mikey are going to get enough cheers from the thousands of Red Sox fans that show up this weekend as it is. They don't need any help from Marlins fans.

The only thing that's appropriate is to give them a cheer before action is underway. There's been no mention of cheering for them if they get a hit. That's ridiculous.

Could you try to be dumber, or have we reached the threshold?

Lowell slumped big time for 1 1/2 years after being productive for many years. His defense never slumped. He never gave up, as lousy as his offense was he was always trying his hardest. And I think the reason we missed the playoffs last year was more because of the lousy pitching by Beckett and Burnett in their last 6-7 statrts. That was the icing on the cake to a team that underachieved all year long, especially Lowell and Pierre.

That's all nice and sunshiney. I don't see anyone questioning his production before 2005. The Marlins weren't paying $8 million per year for a defensive third basemen. He was supposed to produce, big time. I don't really care how hard he tried or that he didn't quit. That's nice, but he didn't produce like we needed. The Fish lost 30 games in '05 by 1 or 2 runs. He had been declining since the break of '04, but $8 million dollars was for the guy who was supposed to put up 100 rbis. That's 42 more rbis than the 58 he had. We lost a lot of games by close margins. Make your own connections, but you can't doubt that his terrible production cost us greatly. I feel it was great enough to cost us the playoffs.

I don't want to turn this into another Lowell sucks thread. I intend on clapping for the guy when he steps into the batter's box the first time, in appreciation of his many productive years here and the joy he brought me as a key part of a WS champion team. If you want to stand and jeer him all game like the jacka** in Tampa Bay does to a player on the opposing team...go ahead. It's a free world. I hope and think the majority on hand tonite will be clapping.

I gave Mikey and Alex standing ovations along with the thousands of others there tonight. Both were great moments especially since they both recognized the cheers and tipped their helmet.

We then turned to cheering for an out, but you can not just forget the things they did for this franchise

To all the politically correct comments here welcoming the enemy back as if they were family, I say bulls***. Bury them.

My hope is Mike Lowell goes 0-12, that his doubles in Fenway fall harmlessly into Josh Willingham's glove and Alex Gonzalez strikes out swinging at least ten times and makes the error that ends the Red Sox error-free streak.

Am I being unappreciative of the past contributions? Sure, you could say that. But as far I'm concerned I'd rather win three games against the Red Sox and be that much closer to real wildcard contention than be 10+ games out and be thought of as a good sport.

QFT x eleventy billion.

I'll take wins over being a good sport anyway. Lowell sucked hard and cost us Josh Beckett so I'm very bitter about that.

Actually I sat silently when Lowell and Gonzalez made their first plate appearances and grandstanded for the crowd. But I cheered like crazy when Mike flied to center and Gonzo struck out in ninth just like every Marlin fan in attendance.

Personally I like winning a whole lot more than hero worship.

I gave Lowell and Gonzalez a standing ovation but when Gonzo K'd in the 9th the first thing I thought was same old Gonzo.

I did what I said I was gonna do.. Clapped once and then give all hell.. espically when Mike hit into the double play! I LOVED IT! Showed his true Marlin colors there.. :lol
