July 10, 200620 yr To clear one thing up about Muslims and Jerusalem: Jerusalem is not a holy city to the Muslims. Its never mentioned once in the Quran, Mecca and Medina are, though. Not only is the Dome of the Rock, one of the holiest Jewish areas as it is the Temple Mount, but there has never ever been any proof that Muhammed ever came near it or even the land of Israel! Israel lets Muslims pray at their holy sites. If a Jew was caught anywhere near the Temple Mount, it start a war. Oh wait, didn't that happen in 2001 when Sharon went up to the Temple Mount? Historically, the only thing Muslims did to the land of Israel was conquer it from the Romans. And then fight the Crusaders for it. And then had the Ottoman's come in and conquer it, who proceeded to allow Jews to live there, albeit for a highly raised tax.
July 10, 200620 yr Byzantines, not Romans (although Eastern Romans would probably be accurate as well)
July 10, 200620 yr Byzantines, not Romans (although Eastern Romans would probably be accurate as well) Ehh whatever. The Byzantines were Romans that split off when it broke up into the Holy Roman Empire and the Byzantine. Either way you look at it, they are still Romans.

Either way both were swept away eventually by the ottomans.
July 10, 200620 yr I would advocate Jerusalem being a U.N. city, rather than one controlled by Israel. Hopefully it would make people a little happier, but probably not.
July 10, 200620 yr They're both full of sh*t. And the radical efforts on both sides don't look like they're going to be quieted anytime soon. "holy land" my ass. So much death over a stupid strip of land. Wake up.
July 10, 200620 yr They are going after these people, and while it might sound cruel, some civilians might just die in the process. Hwo many civilians have we killed in Iraq? 50,000? 100,000? Vitnam, 1,000,000? 2,000,000? And in these two cases what we were fighting was NOT threatning to out existance. Cruel? Nah. Few thousand, 100 thousand, couple million, it happens.

The U.N. is a joke, reform it, then we can talk about this type of thing. By the way lets not argue as to why the UN is a joke, b/c everyone knows a huge topic can be made on that.
July 11, 200620 yr Byzantines, not Romans (although Eastern Romans would probably be accurate as well) Ehh whatever. The Byzantines were Romans that split off when it broke up into the Holy Roman Empire and the Byzantine. Either way you look at it, they are still Romans. Ehh no. Byzantines were not Romans. True, those lands once belonged to the Roman empire, but it was only a province of Rome, those people never had Roman citizinship, and were not of Roman blood, so the Eastern Roman Empire (after the split of the Empire) was Roman just by name, not by race.
