July 12, 200620 yr Kirk Hinrich added to the roster. Very sweet.. I've really wanted him added. He is just what the USA team needs. Hopefully he makes it.

July 13, 200620 yr Excellent addition. That's interesting Superman, I didn't even know he turned it down in the first place.
July 13, 200620 yr Author I guess there was some uncertainty with a contract extension or something.. or he wanted to rest (puts his body through a lot).. but i guess he really wanted to do it after he turned it down. we need a lot more team first guys

He must have been exasuted after the playoffs after he played at such a high level. You are right, we really need those team first guys.
July 26, 200620 yr Team has been cut down to 15, on more cut and it will be down to 12 which will be the squad that competes in the FIBA World Championships. Luke Ridnour and Adam Morrisson are no longer on the team and Shawn Marion is out with a knee injury. Updated Roster: NAME POS HGT WGT DOB CURRENT TEAM Carmelo Anthony F 6-8 230 05/29/84 Denver Nuggets Gilbert Arenas G 6-4 210 01/06/82 Washington Wizards Shane Battier F 6-8 220 09/09/78 Houston Rockets Chris Bosh F 6-10 230 03/24/84 Toronto Raptors Bruce Bowen F 6-7 200 06/14/71 San Antonio Spurs Elton Brand F 6-8 254 03/11/79 Los Angeles Clippers Kirk Hinrich G 6-3 190 01/02/81 Chicago Bulls Dwight Howard F/C 6-11 265 12/08/85 Orlando Magic LeBron James F 6-8 240 12/30/84 Cleveland Cavaliers Antawn Jamison F 6-9 235 06/12/76 Washington Wizards Joe Johnson G/F 6-7 230 06/29/81 Atlanta Hawks Brad Miller C 7-0 261 04/12/76 Sacramento Kings Chris Paul G 6-0 170 05/06/85 New Orleans Hornets Amare Stoudemire C 6-10 240 11/16/82 Phoenix Suns Dwyane Wade G 6-4 212 01/17/82 Miami Heat Head Coach: Mike Krzyzewski, Duke University (N.C.) July 26, 200620 yr Gotta figure: Chris Paul Dwyane Wade Lebron James Chris Bosh Dwight Howard That's just a guess, though. Amare could be doing better than many think, and Coach K might put Carmelo at PF, who knows.
July 26, 200620 yr Author I really hope Hinrich and Paul are the two PGs Two team first guys.. and Hinrich can play D on almost anyone. I don't want Arenas chucking up 30 shots a game from the PG spot.
July 26, 200620 yr I'd say Amare Stoudemire (from everything I've read he has been a beast so far) Elton Brand Lebron James Dwayne Wade Chris Paul I think Bowen, Johnson, Battier could be the next cut. Unless they really feel they need a 'stopper' and take either Bowen and Battier then Miller may be gone.
July 26, 200620 yr They've talked about starting Bruce Bowen in order to shut down the other teams' #1 options...and it's a move I support. There are more than enough scorers that can start - have one of Paul, Wade, or Lebron come off the bench as a super sixth man.

July 26, 200620 yr Anyone know if this is going to be televised around these parts? I'd assume ESPN would be on it, but I can't find any info on it. In fact, the only thing I have found is an absence of info where they should be info. The FIBA official site has a list of broadcast partners in a bunch of different countries, and the US has no listing.

If you have to choose one, that's a bit of a no brainer, eh Oh ya I totally agree. The only reason I listed Paul was because I saw Elton Brand being interviewed on PTI the other day and they were talking about how Paul might end up starting and one of Lebron or Wade would come off the bench. I don't buy it and LeBatard was one of the hosts so it deserves a huge grain of salt anyway.
July 26, 200620 yr After reading K's comments (he has been glowing) I'd be shocked if Paul isn't starting. The best true point guard on the team.
July 26, 200620 yr After reading K's comments (he has been glowing) I'd be shocked if Paul isn't starting. The best true point guard on the team. Ya I'm looking forward to it. I never saw much of New Ahlins during the season. You have to figure 4 of the 5 will be Howard, Wade, Lebron and Paul.
July 26, 200620 yr Well Stoudemire and Paul apparently have been tearing it up, and I think both Wade and James are very close to locks in the starting role just because of who they are. Would they put Howard next to Amare?

July 26, 200620 yr The games will be on TV. I think TNT carried them last time. Congrats to Bruce. Hopefully he helps lead the US team to whatever the top honor is.
