August 3, 200620 yr Treanor to DL: Catcher Matt Treanor will be placed on the 15-day disabled list on Thursday, retroactive to Tuesday, because of a left-shoulder injury. With Teanor going on the DL, catcher Paul Hoover is being called up from Triple-A Albuquerque. Treanor last played on Monday in Philadelphia in a pinch-hit role. The catcher had an MRI on Wednesday to the same shoulder that he had surgery on after last season. Treanor has typically caught rookie Scott Olsen. He is batting .213 with two home runs and 11 RBIs. Hoover was batting .281 with five home runs and 34 RBIs in Albuquerque. To make room on the roster for Hoover, reliever Carlos Martinez was transferred to the 60-day disabled list. http://florida.marlins.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/...sp&c_id=fla here are hoover's stats http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...&pid=150137
August 3, 200620 yr I wonder what would happen to Treanor if Hoover ends up being better and takes over his job. A.K.A Anibal Sanchez taking Moehlers job away.
August 3, 200620 yr Big blow defensively I really dont like Olivo back there when D-Train is pitching
August 3, 200620 yr What is Hoovers D like? Hopefully he can at least be adequete catching Olsen(if he gets the opportunity).
August 3, 200620 yr Hoover will probably make his debuet tommorow with Willis getting the start. That''s probably why they waited to make the move until today. I believe someone on the board had reported this a couple of days back.
August 3, 200620 yr Welcome Hoover. Will this be his first major league call up? Here is something. http://www.thesnortingbull.com/articles/232.html *Became the first catcher to catch the winning end of a 1-0 shutout in his first career start since California’s John Orton, Aug. 20, 1998 vs. Cleveland * :plain Has earned the nickname Chocolate Buns from a fan in the upper seating because of how dirty his pants become after he catches. *Position: C, utility (OF, 1B, 2B, 3B) He might be good to have around. *Originally drafted out of high school by the Houston Astros in the 64th round in 1994. Decided to attend Kent State University instead, where he majored in physical education- Kent State.... I like him already
August 3, 200620 yr He has been the (more or less because of the position) everyday catcher this season for the Isotopes so his numbers (BA, HR, etc.) are not based on small sample sizes. How good his arm is and how well he is defensively would be hard to figure out without going back and reading the game wrapups, etc., because MiLB doesn't list defensive stats. BTW, here's his offensive splits: http://minorleaguesplits.com/cgi-bin/pl.cg...AlbPCL&bp=b

So you kind of have to piece things together. And I told you guys I didn't know much.
