March 30, 200323 yr Yea! Half the reason I can't wait is because the last time I will have seen this many people at a Marlins game: Game 7...
March 31, 200323 yr Um...don't expect 60k to 70k..... Samson's goal for tomorrow's game is 40k.....and that's doable. My seats....Sect. 249 Row 1 Seats 4-6.... Yenta...I'll see you there!
March 31, 200323 yr I know they're hell bent on sqeezing everyone together with less sections available ... ,but I hope they have the sense enough to open more sections if necessary! I mean if a miracle happened(and I think it will be their largest opening day crowd in a LONG time) and 50,000 people show up, let them in! Pro Player has the seats! But here's the deal, they have to pay for ushers and the rest of the concession stands to be open!!!!!! Will they do it???!!! MoooohoohAA HAHAHA....... -and wouldn't you know it? hottest spring training ever? and it's going to be cool tomorrow?!
March 31, 200323 yr http://www.weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/...ur=13&begDay=90 Here is the link to the weatherchannel.com's forcast for 33056 (pro player area code) between 4:00-8:00!
March 31, 200323 yr Does anyone think there is enough tickets for the ones behind the Marlins Dugout? I really want to sit there...
March 31, 200323 yr well maybe they could let the people in without ushers in the upper deck. Is not like anyone would try to sneak in to the upper deck.
March 31, 200323 yr well maybe they could let the people in without ushers in the upper deck. Is not like anyone would try to sneak in to the upper deck. what they should do is open atleast 1 or 2 section.
March 31, 200323 yr Man I can't wait till tomorrow I don't have spring break so I am skipping school tomorrow to watch the game. I live here in Hawaii so I can't see the game in person . Anyone know what the latest count on how many people will be at Pro Player for Opening Day? Can't wait to see the ovation for Ivan when he bats for his first time as a Marlin :w00t
March 31, 200323 yr I hope there prepared hot dog wise, what's opening day without a dog! I am sure they do because they will be giving away hot dogs. I am not sure of the details so dont ask.
March 31, 200323 yr So far I read some good articles on Sun Sentinal and I like the one Hyde wrote but I decided to see what on Hearld and saw this: 16. Florida Marlins ''Bigamy is having one husband too many. Monogamy is the same.'' -- Erica Jong The Marlins led the league this spring in bigamists but released Al Martin. Help me with the math: You finish near the bottom of the league in runs and homers while finishing first in steals last season. So you decide to correct this by deducting home runs (Kevin Millar, Cliff Floyd, Preston Wilson, Charles Johnson) and adding steals (Juan Pierre)? Starters are supposed to be the strength of the team, and could be, but they were 11th in the league in ERA and second in walks. Castillo and Pierre had 95 stolen bases last year. Eighteen teams had fewer. Carl Pavano was once traded for Pedro Mart?nez, which is about the worst trade anyone has made since the Indians gave up Manhattan for $24 in trinkets. Perhaps it is possible that the best man to manage the team was hired after coaching Jeff Loria's son (Jeff Torborg), and perhaps the best man to be team president happened to marry into Loria's family (Dave Samson), and perhaps the best man to be strength coach happened to be Torborg's son, but does this feel odd to anyone else? Pierre will weigh 112 pounds by August Dan Retarded has the Expo ahead of the Marlins.I wonder why this guy opinions even matter and why ESPN paying to voice his opinion.
March 31, 200323 yr Dan Retarded has the Expo ahead of the Marlins.I wonder why this guy opinions even matter and why ESPN paying to voice his opinion. I have alway's thought lebatard was alway's putting on an act to get on ESPN. He alway's play's the guy who doesn't agree with anything, just like The Marlins. If he started to support Miami sport's I honestly beleive ESPN would not need his services. It' just an act. Just my opinion.
March 31, 200323 yr I read Le Batard a lot, and you know what? That Josh Clinton article on the firums tha is posted is problably a lot more believable, and much more intelligent then anything Le Batard has ever said/written.....
March 31, 200323 yr This morning can't pass fast enough. I'm taking off work at noon and will be at the park around 2 or 3. This is the most psyched I've ever been for the start of a baseball season. Maybe it's because the hockey season's over with and the Panthers aren't making the playoffs (again), or that the Heat stink or that the Dolphins missed the playoffs, or that the Hurricanes football loss still stings... Maybe it's the war that's been weighing on me, I don't know. Part of it has just been from visiting this site and getting to talk baseball and share in the enthusiasm that you all have for the Marlins. But I am literally ready to scream when the team takes the field today. And for those of you that aren't in town, a wonderful cold front moved in Sunday night and the temperature should be in the high 60s or low 70s for the game! A nice cool breeze, free hot dogs, and a packed house. Can't beat it. Nice article in the Miami Herald from Greg Cote: Herald article here's a part of it: Home plate is clean right now, painted white, pristeen, untouched, a blank canvas waiting. Everything starts over, just like that. Today, the Marlins have a chance again. Baseball in South Florida has a chance again. ''This feels like Christmas Eve,'' new Marlins reliever Tim Spooneybarger said Sunday. ``From the last out of the last season, you think about this day.'' Josh Beckett joked that he was going to drink a 12-pack of beer Sunday night so he could relax and get some sleep! :cheers Let's get it on! :marlinsbanner
March 31, 200323 yr I know, I'm counting down till 1 so I can see those Braves and Met's lose! Hopefully Sosa's 500 too. I better find a station that's carrying today's game, damn Philly CBS got the rights and I don't have that station!
March 31, 200323 yr Totally right about LeBatard. I caught a few moments of his ESPN radio show over the weekend, and man is he horrible. Why ESPN hired him is beyond me. He ought to just move up to Bristol, Connecticut full-time and get out of town. I don't get the Herald anyway, but he's an embarrassment. You & me both 1truefan, I'm bouncing off the walls at work... Totally agree Minus, LeBatard's opinon means absolutely zero as far as I'm concerned. I have a comment about Hyde's article, and everyone else who seems to think we've reduced our home run output through all the trades this year. Look at it from an offensive standpoint. 1. Replace Floyd with Pudge. Home run difference? Nope. 2. Replace Preston with Encarnacion. Home run difference? Nope. 3. Replace Millar with Hollandsworth. Home run difference? Minor. 4. Replace CJ with Pierre. Home run difference? Sure, but I'll take the .290 average and 50 steals and you can keep CJ's .230 average. So where's the big dropoff?
March 31, 200323 yr Man, I can't wait either. I'm leaving work at noon. I'm sitting in the first row of the Upper Deck behind home plate! Go Fish! :w00t
March 31, 200323 yr Don't know if someone caught this yet, but last year for the Braves, Kevin Millwood went 0-3 with a 7.65 ERA in four games against Florida.
March 31, 200323 yr HC- yeah that was in a previous topic.....thanks though. Should be interesting regardless....I think our guys are probably as hyped or more than you and I are....(hard to believe but yeah.) Malman, you'll be in the section above me. 249!!
March 31, 200323 yr Hi everybody!!! I simply would like to wish all of you a wonderful baseball season for you and your fav team!! I am sure our Fish will do great this year and they will surprise MLB!! Torborg said we have postseason chances: I am sure of that! I still have in my eyes those incredible nights in South Beach (and San Francisco too)!!!!! Unbelievable. Shame I was by myself and did know none of you, yet, guys!!!! Now a promise!!!! Or even something more!!! On September 20th, 2003, I will marry my wonderful girlfriend Jolanda!! We are planning our honeymoon in Mexico ( 2 weeks in Cancun including a 4 days trip to Yucatan): but, you know, after all Mexico is not so from Miami. So why not coming to the ProPlayer Stadium for a game or two just to celebrate the postseason with you???? And if the Fish are doing well, why not staying in the wonderfull South Florida like I did in '97??? Just promise me you'll be there too!!! Have a great baseball season and remember that there is an italian Marlin who almost every night follow the Fish on the web supporting them as if he were there in South Florida with you!!! Thanks again for making me feel part of the Marlins and South Florida!!! Ciao Luca :hat
