August 28, 200619 yr It's been discussed before. It's a good show and really starting to come into it's own as far as the gags go (the romance story is still pretty much straight from the BBC version). I still don't know if I like Brent or Carrell better, though.

I don't mind the temps coming in, but if they bring in people other than them just because the Office is cool now and has an "it" factor and bring in random comedians... Yeah, that would be booty.

August 28, 200619 yr i finally picked up season 1 and the british version this past weekend. i've actually never seen the original version, so i'm looking forward to hopefully seeing it all this week. guess i gotta add yet another show to pick up in the near future once season 2 comes out.

Yeah it will along with the PSAs, the Olympic promos, and commentaries. It may also have camcorder footage Jenna Fischer shot while on the set. You can view screens of the menus here.
August 28, 200619 yr i finally picked up season 1 and the british version this past weekend. i've actually never seen the original version, so i'm looking forward to hopefully seeing it all this week. Martin Freeman as Tim is one of the most underrated performances I've seen (BBC versions) and set a high bar for the guy on the American show to follow (I like the BBC's character of the young lovers more, for some reason). Also, Gervais new show, Extras, is supposed to be awesome. It's already out on DVD already over there and is coming here soon, but basically Gervais and the other guy (I think it's Steven Marchant but not sure) are extras and act like asses on the set while big-name stars drop in to mock themselves (David Bowie was probably the best one of the last season, but next season Tom Cruise and others are in the works).
August 28, 200619 yr Author I really think Season 2 was better then Season 1 Considering Season 1 was only 6 episodes which had very little characted development. I think the turning point for me was the Christmas Party episode. I've watched it about 4 times now and it doesn't get old. Anyone up for Yankee swap?
August 29, 200619 yr Season 1 was really nothing special. I wasn't even planning on watching Season 2, but I remember the premiere came on when I had nothing else to do, and it was just so much better than the first season. All of Season 2 was terrific. The British show and the American show are really quite different. The British one was certainly more groundbreaking, and probably a more admirable achievement from a certain distance, but I find the American one so much more engaging. I mean, the creators of the British show HATED David Brent in a way that I don't think has carried over to the American version. Michael gets a bit more of a sympathetic portrayal...occasionally, he even does something right. It's not really difficult to watch like the British one was. Brent's motivational speech was probably the most uncomfortable 5 minutes I've ever witnessed on TV...though it was also hilarious. The American version is also a lot broader. It's not just the Steve Carrell show...the other characters get a lot more face time, especially the more peripheral characters, like Stanley, Toby, etc. It's definitely a more impressive ensemble than what they had in the British version. Although my favorite character on the British version was probably the fat guy who basically never said anything, but anytime he opened his mouth it was either completely ridiculous or incredibly offensive. And yet he was always so stoic.

September 22, 200619 yr Everytime Kevin laughed like an 8 year old boy, I followed suit. It was hysterical. The funniest part was when Dwight "figured out" that he had a gay friend in Michael. I died watching the profound recognition register on Dwight's face. Great episode. Keep the funny coming.

September 22, 200619 yr I give it about 3 more episodes before Jim moves back to the Scranton branch. Anyone who watched the UK version will certainly be familiar with the calculator in the jello gag, although I think it was a stapler in the UK version. The guy going apeshit was pretty funny, though. Great opener. Oh, and for some reason, I think I laughed hardest at Stan's monolgue about the toaster. It was just so Stan.
