September 19, 200619 yr Johnson update: There is a chance rookie Josh Johnson won't be ready for his next scheduled start, which would be Friday at Philadelphia. The 6-foot-7 right-hander was initially slated to start Monday against the Mets at Shea Stadium. But he suffered a right forearm cramp in his last start, a rain-interrupted game on Sept. 12 in Miami. That game had a 1-hour, 22-minute delay, and Johnson was lifted after five scoreless innings. On Monday afternoon at Shea Stadium, Johnson played catch, throwing very lightly. The team had been hopeful that the Tulsa, Okla., native would miss one start. Now, it appears he may not be ready for Saturday. "He threw a real light catch," Girardi said. "We'll see where he is tomorrow and go from there." Johnson has a 12-7 record, and his 3.10 ERA is fourth-best in the National League; it ranks fifth in the Major Leagues. To rank among the ERA leaders at the end of the season, Johnson must have thrown at least 162 innings. He has tossed 157 in 31 games with 24 starts. Already, Johnson has logged more innings this year than he has in any season of his pro career. Last year with Double-A Carolina, he tossed 139 2/3 innings. September 19, 200619 yr Author I even somewhat want Olsen, Nolasco and Anibal to shut it down after their next start. Eventhough Olsen and Anibal are healthy I just want to make sure nothing is going to happen to them the last start or two.

September 19, 200619 yr Not sound niaive, but I don't think we are quite out of it yet and hence significantly altering the rotation is in my mind premature. With six games left against the Phillies anything can happen. Of course, alot of other things would have to fall into place and no doubt the chances are off the chart, but until we know we can't win or have a winning season, I'd keep on keepin' on.

Oh yeah, give Mitre and Petit a start at least. I'd also use Garcia out of the pen to see what he's got. I'd still give Anibal his chance at 10 wins.
