September 26, 200619 yr wells is FA after next year not good to trade willis for him also people in that thread/game on the other board make me head hurt with some of their trade offers. They are just dumb. I am pretty sure if it was ran here, it would be ran much much better.
September 26, 200619 yr Wells isn't a free agent. He is after next year. Basically I am not in favor of trading Dontrelle to rent Wells. We have minor league starters that could be moved for several quality CFs, why trade a proven Cy Young candidate?

Because Wells is an everyday impact player, one of the best in the league at the position we are (by far) weakest at.

Because other than last year Dontrelle hasn't been a proven Cy Young candidate and Vernon Wells has been amazingly consistent. Also, assuming the Blue Jays would do such a stupid trade, I'm sure we'd consider signing him long-term. Although I doubt it happens. He'd probably get $10 mill per year on the open market.
September 26, 200619 yr I'd definitely trade Willis for Wells. Both are 6 win players and the Marlins deal from a spot of incredible strength and gaining one of the top 3 CFers in the game and one of the top 20 batters in the game. Not to mention giving Cabrera some big time protection and moving down the rest of the lineup.

The Marlins are not going to give him the 14mil / year he is going to command on the open market. Willis is a proven Cy Young candidate. He'd have 18-20 wins this season if the team could have scored runs and played defense. Either Crawford or Badelli are likely available for prospects, and will be with the team for 3-4 years.

September 30, 200619 yr I said it before in another thread and ill say it again here, i truly think our CF is going to come from the rule V draft, someone 24-27 whos at AA, AAA, possibly a RFer with range and an arm. Or its going to be Baldelli or Crawford, we have the system to aquire the likes of either of them. Honestly i'd prefer to have Rocco because hes a natural CFer and has an even friendlier contract. Put him in the two hole and move Uggla down.

They already have one albatross in the infield and he goes by the name Cantu, Upton needs to be moved to the OF, either LF or CF, hes athletic enough, if Upton would've started the year off in the infield he would have close to 53 errors thats not remotely acceptable and reports are being leaked from their own FO that either Crawford and Rocco will be available this offseason. The Rays need someone to complament Kazmir while Wade Davis and Jacob McGee get seasoned a little more. The fish have the peices to pull a trade off.

I wonder if we will take a chance on another Rule V draftee. Do you know which ones are CF'ers?
