October 9, 200322 yr from a Herald article.... rofl, Millar rules. Lowell won Tuesday's tense Game 1 with an 11th-inning homer, as you might remember. It seems that former Marlin Kevin Millar, now with the playoff Boston Red Sox, was watching the at-bat on television and called Lowell on the phone during it, doing uproarious play-by-play as Lowell batted. Insults are the language of intimacy among males, and Lowell and Millar are very good friends, so the message began with Millar teasing Lowell about how flimsy his forearms were and how soft he looked in a uniform, although he stopped to mention that his rear looked kind of sexy. This continued throughout the dramatic at-bat, Millar saying, ''good eye,'' when Lowell would take a ball or complimenting him on a nice swing and then, as the 3-2 pitch came in, reminding Lowell that he had hit a game-winning homer against Millar's Red Sox earlier this year. ''Wouldn't that be nice if you did that now?'' Millar said, and before he could get the thought out, Lowell had swung and the ball was floating deep, and now Millar was cursing at the top of his lungs into the phone, jumping around, cursing for a full 30 seconds, ranting about how Lowell had done this for Miami and Cuba and the United States and cursing some more, and then some more, and a little more. Then a quiet, thoughtful pause. ''You should save this message for the rest of your life,'' Millar said, and then hung up. The Marlins come home now. They're going to give you some games that you should save for the rest of your life.
October 9, 200322 yr thats awesome, i wish i can listen to it. Red Sox vs. Marlins...wouldn't that be sum'thing
October 9, 200322 yr :rofl I remeber the days of Millar being the funnest and Funniest guys on the Marlins. Too bad he had to leave....Lowell has Come up with Big hits for us now that i am thinking about all the Game Winning Homers he has had.
October 9, 200322 yr No one hates the Red Sox more than I do, but I still am a huge Kevin Millar fan. My husband and I both think that Kevin's addition to the Sox is what is making the difference for them this year -- not so much his stats, although they have been great, but his attitude and his use of humor to unite any team he is with. We watched him do it with the Portland SeaDogs when he was with them -- and even when he was rehabbing here for just a couple games, they performed like a much better team. It breaks my heart now to have to root against him when he is up to bat... :confused Lowell SHOULD keep that message for the rest of his life!

He was my favorite player too last year BB. The only move this FO has made that I don't agree with, even in retrospect. Oh well.... hope they beat the Yanks anyway.
