sgleason02
Thumbed through the rosters and came up with this list of players still in camp: Hitters:(14) Cabrera, Uggla, Ramirez, Jacobs, Willingham, Olivo, De Aza, Borchard, Ross, Boone, Amezaga, Wood, Gall, Treanor Pitchers:(13) Willis, Olsen, Sanchez, Nolasco, Mitre, Gardner, Messenger, Lindstrom, Owens, Field, Gregg, Pinto, Julio Comes to a total of 27 players still in camp. Which two from these lists don't make the team?
CYmarlins
Gall and maybe Fields.
sgleason02
My guess is that Ross gets traded, leaving us to choose between Gardner and Field for the last roster spot.
catchoftheday
is Ross out of options? Ross, Wood or Gardner would be my choices
Sirspud
Don't trade Ross. Too much stock is being put into spring training. This guy isn't a starting caliber outfielder, but he has a powerful bat that helped us win a lot of games last year. Seeing as we are already down Hermida, that puts Borchard into the starting lineup and we need someone with pop off the bench who can play outfield. Neither Amezaga nor Gall really have the kind of pop that Ross does. I don't think Field is gonna make it, Gardner has really pitched well. Hammerhead
My guess is that Ross gets traded, leaving us to choose between Gardner and Field for the last roster spot. Thats an easy decision. Gardner has earned his spot with this team. Field hasn't shown much. Send down Gall and platoon Ross and Borchard in RF.
sgleason02
Spring Stats: Gall: 38 AB, 10 hits, 5 RBI, 4 BB, 2 K, .349 OBP, .342 SLG, .263 AVG Ross: 51 AB, 4 hits, 1 RBI, 4 BB, 14 K, .161 OBP, .098 SLG, .078 AVG Gardner: 2-0, 0.00 ERA, 13.1 IP, 8 H, 3 BB, 6 K, .83 WHIP, .224 OBA Field: 1-0, 3.09 ERA, 11.2 IP, 12 H, 2 BB, 10 K, 1.20 WHIP, .294 OBA (also has 3 wild pitches, and 1 hit batsman) Spring stats seem to suggest that Ross and Field will be packing their bags. My guess is that Ross gets traded, leaving us to choose between Gardner and Field for the last roster spot. Thats an easy decision. Gardner has earned his spot with this team. Field hasn't shown much. Send down Gall and platoon Ross and Borchard in RF. I thought about this as well, but remember reading in an article this week how much Fredi admires Gall for his preparation, professionalism, and veteran leadership. This, added to the reports that teams have shown interest in acquiring Ross, makes me think that Ross will be traded while he still has value, and Gall will take his roster spot. If Ross does make it over Gall, I think it will be solely for the purpose of trying to increase Ross's trade value by getting him some better stats via the regular season, because he will no longer have a home once Hermida comes off the DL. Ralph
Ross is going to platoon with Borchard. The last spot is b/w Gall and Wood.
sgleason02
is Ross out of options? Ross, Wood or Gardner would be my choices Yes, I believe I read that somewhere a couple weeks ago.
Skully
They need to keep Jason Wood... What else does a player have to do? I know it's a bit redundant having him and Boone, but it makes no sense to keep Borchard, Ross, and Gall either.... Until Hermida comes back, they can use Amezaga as the 5th outfielder, if need be... I really hope Wood makes it.
