How about a rainout???

Then you get Beckett on 3 days rest in game 7!

Do you want him to blow his arm out? Not even Prior or Schmidt could go after 3 days rest. If anything, then next time we see Josh Beckett could be in the series if we get these last two games.

all the better to bunt you to death with, my dear

No Josh in Game 7 starting wise. He could, however, come out of the pen for maybe an inning since it is his throw on the side day and the old addage that everyone who isn't starting is a reliever in Game 7. But then again, don't you want him for Game 1 of the World Series? I think if he throws an inning or less (only if absolutely necessary, mind you) he could very well be ready and willing to take the ball for Game 1. But besides that, Big Red has pitched very well in his two postseason starts. Why mess with a good thing?

Couldn't this weather be dangerous?

Carl apparently likes it.

Couldn't this weather be dangerous?

Yes, for the players. Wrigley Field has one of the worst irrigation systems in all of baseball. It can't hold much water, a good amount of rain will leave puddles and extremely slick grass. I've recommended bunting on Clement to reinjure his groin, and I recommend bunting here as well. Make Prior run on this slick surface and bad things may happen to him.

I don't, seems like rain and 40s temps = a boring dangerous game for some reason.

Lets not forget, wet fields are not exactly foreign to us.

bottom line....

what are you saving josh or anyone for.

if you dont win game 6, there is no game 7.

worry about any potential world series when it gets here.

40s and rain is no good. thats some harsh stuff. the ball slips out your hand and that cold is hard to deal with. not a good combo. i hope it get rained out.

i hope it get rained out.

Same, at least play during the day when its a little bit warmer! 4:00 PM start eastern time, or 2:00 PM (1:00 CST)

A wet field and watching Prior tear his ACl in the grass is fine with me!

it is a true fact, stated again---we are saving pitchers IF we get to the series??? what is this.... use our best now, and worry about our situation later.... we do wanna be NL champs, at least, do we not?

Actually, I think a dose of the lovely Northern Illinois weather will help the Marlins. This type of weather will not allow many homeruns, and keep the games low scoring types of game where manufactured runs make the difference. I think that if juan and luis get hot at the top of the order, they can manufacture some runs, and in that kind of weather, all of those factors could really give the marlins a good chance of winning 2 at wrigley.

The forecast for tomorrow also calls for northwest 20-30 mph winds, which I believe means the wind will be blowing in, not out as in the first 2 games. Someone from Chicago correct me if I'm wrong. This can't be anything but favorable to the Marlins who don't depend solely on the long ball to score runs.

Cold weather means pitchers can't get a good grip on the ball, and I've seen some pretty HIGH scoring games in cold weather. Remember Game 3 of the 1997 WS in Cleveland? Wind chills were in the 20s and the final score was 14-11 Marlins!

That was a great game. Gary was on straight fire on offense, and stealing a Jim Thome homer on defense.

Yes, this can result in high scoring games for contact ballclubs like the Marlins. When the wind is blowing in at 20-30, it's basically impossible to hit a homer at wrigley. But the grips on the ball are difficult for the pitchers, therefore contact teams can get a lot of hits, steal some bases, and therefore, get a lot of runs without the use of the long ball. I personally think this really favors the marlins, because the cubs are a "station to station" power offense, and prior and wood have trouble when they walk a lot of batters, and give up a lot of hits, both likely consequences of the windy/cold weather that there is going to be in games 6 and hopefully 7.

Maybe it will be better for us if we play wit cold weather!

I think it will be, unless you guys have one of those pre 2002 buccaneer cold weather streaks that I don't know about. :banghead :D

Want to know how we do in the cold in the playoffs? SEE: World Series, 1997

Nah but that was back then Juanky.

I dont think we will do good....the pitchers arm gets very bad in cold weather. Believe me its hard pitching in cold weather.
