April 6, 200719 yr bill o'reilly is ...not so good :thumbdown , Geraldo was quite correct in calling out O'Reilly cheap political ploys .To the larger issue being debated i am for some sort of legal pathway to citizenship but i would agree that any one illegally( here who has committed any criminal offense (baring a speeding ticket and obviously breaking immigration laws) should not be granted us citizenship .

They are by far more fair and balanced than most news organizations, especially NBC. And O'Reilly is great. He'll cover stuff that everyone else ignores. The left loons love to bash him which only helps his reputation. The way the print and tv media has turned so far to the left is nothing short of frightening. And sadly, the world is doomed because we are too worried about bashing bush instead of worrying about extremists and Iran, who is basically our bitch because the rest of the world's are a bunch of dumb ass p***y's that don't do anything. However, I also agree with Rivera and can see where he can come across calling this a political stunt. However, I think it is reprehensible that he would attempt to defend, in any way shape or form, a person who is guilty of vehicular manslaughter because of drunk driving and has previous offenses on his record, to say nothing of his "right" to be in this country. But then again, that's just me and I'm sure to the ACLU sect, that makes me bigoted...whatever.

That said, let's not ruin the Meltdown thread with politics. I like O'Reilly. I understand his point, and I actually agree with it to a large degree. He was just saying that the fact of this guy being an illegal has no bearing on the drunk driving incident. O'Reilly is trying to make it seem like illegals are coming into this country, getting liquored up, and running people over. Geraldo countered that illegals have a lower crime rate than citizens, which I don't know if it is true, but if it is, then O'Reilly should admit defeat on this particular point. Feel however you want about illegals, but this incident in no way argues for a need for harsher treatment towards them.

This person's status as a alien, citizen, hispanic, black, or white person has absolutely no connection to the fact that he was a drunk driver. It is weak attempt to bolster his view in another debate. This is what happens when you replace logic with knee-jerk emotion. The victim's own father thinks O'Reilly screwed it up. The mayor and Tessa Tranchant's father both said that making an issue out of immigration loses the focus that the girls were killed by a man that police said was driving drunk.
