April 11, 200719 yr Vanden Hurk goes down tomorrow, we call up another reliever for the game, then Rick comes back up all without leaving the stadium!
April 11, 200719 yr Tank? He's the only guy in Jupiter who'd make sense...(since proximity is an issue).
April 11, 200719 yr i dont see why owens and pinto wouldnt be available for the first game tommorow It's a tie game, we could conceivably need 5 or 6 from the pen. To say nothing of game 2.
April 11, 200719 yr i dont see why owens and pinto wouldnt be available for the first game tommorow yeah but then you cant use them for the next game, which would leave you shorthanded.. by sending hurk down, you have an extra arm.
April 11, 200719 yr Rick would have to stay at the stadium for 10 days per MLB rule Unless the recall is in the event of an injury. Or in this case "injury."
April 11, 200719 yr Injury as in placing a player on the DL BTW, think Lindstrom will re-start the game?
April 11, 200719 yr I would have lindstrom restart the game. I believe that we will at least begin with uggla-cabrera-jake.
April 11, 200719 yr Injury as in placing a player on the DL BTW, think Lindstrom will re-start the game? Yeah, I'd assume Lindstrom would get the restart with the rest but then not be availabe for game 2. Secondly, if Tank's ready you could DL or DFA Julio, or DL Wood (whoever's getting demoted). Otherwise whoever comes up from Jupiter gets DL'd to bring back Vanden Hurk.
April 11, 200719 yr and it doesn't matter...Vander Hurk has been used, so unless one of your unused pitchers gets hurt, your SOL since this is game 1 part 2 pretty much... this is NOT a new game.
April 11, 200719 yr Or we send Mitre out and hope for a quick end, so that he can go out 20 minutes later like it was a long inning for the offense.
April 11, 200719 yr Or we send Mitre out and hope for a quick end, so that he can go out 20 minutes later like it was a long inning for the offense. Not happening. You only pitch him 1 inning in that scenario, and then what happens if the game is extended? He is on the bench for an extended period of time and has to warm up all over again.

April 11, 200719 yr Hate to lose him for the next game, but i think i'd go with pinto. He's a former starter and technically this is like a start. Going back with lindstrom isn't a terrible idea either and I have faith in him. If i remember correctly its top of the order for the brewers as well, so its just like starting a game.
April 11, 200719 yr Probably a stupid question. Say the Marlins send Vanden Hurk down. The relieve that comes up would be unavailable for the finish of the first game, but could play in the second right?
April 11, 200719 yr they would have to send him down after the first game but before the second... but yeah
April 11, 200719 yr How hilarious would it be just to start Mitre in the first game, and then just have him start the next game? How sweet would 2 wins in one day be for him.. that would have to be a record.
April 11, 200719 yr Author How hilarious would it be just to start Mitre in the first game, and then just have him start the next game? How sweet would 2 wins in one day be for him.. that would have to be a record. It isn't that bad of an idea if we could get the win in 1 or 2 innings. His pitch count would still be relatively low, and a 20 minute waiting period is really like a normal inning with a few hits thrown in

With nolasco injured the only other option is to start someone on short rest
