Game thoughts

Now this was a game that had everything.

You had the 300 game winner in Greg Maddux

You had the Marlins best pitcher out there (even if he has struggled this year). He looked great most of the night save for a meatball to Mike Cameron

You had the Marlins go up 3-0, go down 4-3, and win it 5-4.

You had the Marlins tattoo one of the best set up man in baseball in Scott Linebrink.

You had the Marlins go back to back, both being opposite field shots.

You had Joe Borchard, of all people, have the game winning hit.

You had the Marlins bullpen come in and slam the door shut.

Good times.

Oh and don't forget, we got to see Borchard smile, finally, that guy NEVER smiles! LOL

But yeah, good game all around, I like what I'm seeing from Owens closing. He is throwing strikes, and that's the reason Julio should never appear in a save situation for the Marlins again, or at least until he gets his act together.

In 2006, this game would have been a loss. Nice to be at .500

:cheers :marlins

oh stop with that bullcrap

2006 had plenty of magic

I wondered if anyone would actually talk about the game.

It was a great game, the high, the lows, Hammer bringing everyone to their feet wishing the ball over the fence and then Joe Borchard, the frosting on the cake, the shot that made you proud as any baseball fan in the country tonight, it was a great inning after the heartbreak that preceeded it.

And Henry Owens. I thanked the lords of the Barry University Rte 95 monument for Henry as I drove home tonight, probably the biggest grin of the night. It was fun tonight, for Marlins fans. I can hardly wait for tomorrow night.

Anyone got the call of the HR?

Everyone also got a hit tonight, save for Amezaga.

It was nice to see Hanley back on track with a 4 hit night.

sweet Mary someone wake up Dave Van Horn. :lol

He called the Willingham homer like it was a routine grounder to second.

Too excited and he may kill Aunt Betty listening in Palm Beach. :lol

Then you'd have to call in David W. Singer.

also, the sweet F18 flyover was awesome too... albeit random (yes I realize the air n sea show is tomorrow)

Not random at all.....the only thing is they always come from where I can't see them until they are right over me.

I guess that is what makes them so deadly. :cool

Julio should never appear in a save situation for the Marlins again, or at least until he gets his act together.

...which pretty much means he won't appear in a save situation. A dozen Freuds couldn't shrink Julio's head back into where it needs to be to be effective.

btw, is Wild Marlin Man still self-banned?

The same can be said for the unwanted by-products of my intestinal tract after dining on Dolphin Stadium food.

Sorry Section 456

This time last year we would have lost this game. I think its a beautiful thing to look back and just smile at how this team really has progressed. One thing is for sure... last year set the bar for our midseason form. Hopefully we continue to do well!!! Yeah 2006 did have a lot of summer magic, but... just imagine what these kids are capable of.

this team show that when starter need help their someone come in keep game under control and team saying that could come back from one run was great too see too i was at game it one best come back up to now for sophomore player this second of season if i not mistaking keep good job

i have question about first hr of game that hit near fishtank? what i saw when i was game that donot go over into fishtank that hit sign in wall near fishtank that fan touch ball when was it call hr was fan throw out game for catch the ball in play?????

I changed seats from left field line to right field line in the middle of the 8th.... As I took my new seat Hammer and Borchard went back to back.... You're welcome

cool, thanks Cape.

Awesome win though. :thumbup

I can't stand Van Horne's home run call. That "up, up and away" call is so lame and outdated!

Is it just me? But every time I hear Van Gundy on the radio, I hear the crowd's reaction about 5 seconds before he describes what's happening. I think he is trying not to mess up, but please!!!

Can't someone entice him with a good retirement package?

lol Van Gundy...

Anyway the problem with DVH is that he doesn't view the games on the monitors, but instead he watches the game right out his window. It's alot harder to gauge where the ball is headed from his vantage point.

besides that 7th inning meltdown by Dontrelle, it was an awesome awesome game, its good to see the boys come from behind, get the win and set the tone for the series.

I know Maddux is a monster in his own right with the glove (how many does he have 16?) but Dontrelle made some pretty spectacular plays in the first few innings of the game, surely one day he will have a couple of his own
