And Ramp, with three more days off before the Fish play again, the posts (and threads) are going to get dumber, I have a feeling. Nothing like down-time to bring out the craziness.

What is wrong with you? SERIOUSLY!

The Marlins brought in Pudge, they went after Clemens (that same year), they brought in Delgado, they signed Lowell and Castillo. They brought in Armando Benitez.

Marlins management has no interest in winning. That's the dumbest f***ing thing I have ever seen written on this board.

They didn't win did they ? There is not 1 single NL East Pennant hanging in the Marlins trophy room. If you want it, you need to go out and get it. If it had been a priority, why did every owner here give up, instead of going all out -- balls to the wall ? Huizenga won a WS and then gave up, Henry never tried to compete, and Loria tried for two years and then gave up.

Did Ted Turner ever stop bringing in top FA's ? Has George Steinbrenner or Guerro out in LA -- do they stop spending money ? No they go balls-to-the-wall and are competitive EVERY year.

At least I am entertaining :p

Just because they didn't win, doesn't mean they didn't try. And since when does having a high payroll mean anything? When was the last time the Mets or Cubs won a World Series?

Didn't John Henry bring back Charles Johnson? And didn't he sign Preston Wilson long term? And pay Cliff Floyd?

Do you even have a clue what you are even talking about?

No, you are single-handedly bringing down the entire board's IQ

So now the only team that wins is also the only team that is trying?

We've been playing meaningful games in September most years under Loria's ownership and without having to commit ourselves to the irrational plans the Yankees and Dodgers have been locked into. How can you advocate reckless spending? They spend tons of money on costly veterans who are getting paid way too much for past-their-prime performance. How is this something we want to emulate? Has their performance been vastly better than ours in the past 4 years? How many World Series rings do the Yankees and Dodgers have in that time?

We develop a farm system stocked with pitching talent, make beneficial trades, and refuse to buy into the league mentality that you overpay for talent. Is it sometimes frustrating to see talent shipped out to higher payroll teams? Sure. But, you can't argue that we don't get back comporable, more economically efficient talent in return.

I'd like to ask you a question. What high-profile free agents (because it seems all you like is to see more money invested in our team) in the past couple offseasons do you believe we should have been willing to open up our checkbook for at the contract price they eventually got?

While that may be the case, to be apart of a medical staff for a professional sports team, you aren't just some shlub off the streets.

Yeah but it Loria is cheap he can get some schlub from a 3rd world doctor factory to be the team physician. I wouldn't put it past him to do that either. He'd rob his own mother of her last dime if he could.

I have no idea where you are getting any of this information. It makes me think you are just making things up to get responses. Maybe you should buy a media guide and check out who is on the staff and how long they have been associated with the team before you spout off all this garbage. Or are you too cheap to do that?

For instance:

Dr. Kanell has been the team physician for 15 years. Before that he was with the Yankees since 1974. He has also been with the Dolphins since '89. He was listed "Best Doctors Of America" southest section from '96 through '04. The team also has a staff of 25 consultants backing him up. And when in doubt they send players off to see specialists.

Sean Cunningham, Head Athletic Trainer is entering his 6th year with the team.

Mike Kozac, Asst Athletic Trainor is entering his 7th season with the team.

Paul Fornier, Strength and Conditioning Coach, enters his 5th season with the team.

The list for the front office covers two full pages in small print in the media guide.

Your little conspiracy theory tantrum holds no water. And seeing as how you failed to provide any type of link or time frame for your supposed argu, emt I have to also question that.

The first place thing is not a fair comparison. One team besides the Braves has finished in first place in the NL East during the Marlins existence. Remember, the Braves won 14 straight NL East titles.

Sure it is........all teams start out with the same chance to win the pennant. You have to want it, and your organization has to show the willpower to put together a team that can do it. Schurholz in Atlanta has shown that resolve time and time again. Marlins management was never interested in winning, or they would have pursued more good FA's to combat Atlanta.

:mischief2 Dumbest ever? ... Been reading the board for three years now ... Yup it has to take the cake.

wow...good information there...i had no idea dr. kanell had been with us for so long...so i guess it really goes to show that the committment to winning runs deeper than just the player's payroll...
