ESPN.com's Facelift

Featured Replies

Yesterday I think they changed their layout.

I think it looks a lot better. The content is centered and it looks cleaner all the way around.

Current Look

'Old' Look

If only they'd get rid of that forsaken video it'd be even better.

Thoughts?

that video is invaluable... well... only if you're overseas

but anyway, i dig the new layout

It's clean and sleek....i like.

I just wish there was an option to turn it off. That's why I sometimes visit FoxSports.com because it's quicker.

Sometimes the video comes on without me telling it to, too.

Yea i agree.. and half the time it ends up scaring the crap out me.

I use yahoo sports for looking up players, scoreboards, etc.

I was actually just reading an awesome article on ESPN about The Simpson's "Homer at the bat" episode.. good stuff

Pretty subtle change but overall I like it

BTW Fox here is how to turn off the video: link

Thanks for looking out but I don't use Firefox.

You have no idea how much I appreciate this. I was trying to find a contact for ESPN to ask them, but that site just brings you to Disney World.

I like the new cleaner look.

Let me be the third person to thank you for this. I can actually go to ESPN.com during work now without having to check that the speakers are on mute or my headphones are in. Not to mention the faster load time when I'm on it at home.

Thanks a bunch for this. $500 + One Spin for you.

Am I the only one who doesn't visit ESPN.com anymore? I use cnnsi.com instead.

I hate the fact that half the content is pay content, it is frustrating seeing an interesting story, clicking on it, and then seeing that it is "insider" content only. Maybe I should just man up and pay for the Insider?

As a man who once purchased Insider, it really has no value when the writers are pretty half-witted. Before the '03 draft, I was conned (voluntarily) into thinking Darko Milicic would be the next reincarnation of a player that had Sabonis range and Olajuwon inside moves. Let me just say I hate Chad Ford and every other NBA Insider for that.

ESPN has been my homepage for a decade so I usually hit it up for quick headlines and Bill Simmons. Past that, MLB.com Gameday for baseball scores and so on for the other leagues. I agree, it's annoying that maybe 45% of the articles on the front page are Insider only. Subscribing to it is only good for getting ESPN the Magazine.

It seems like everything on there is insider which is extremely gay. I just realize i could sign up for it because i subscribe to the magazine but they want my CC info and i'm not giving them that.,

it's espn... they're not going to do something sketchy with it :lol

Nah, I don't blame him. What if the subscription runs out and they auto bill him for Insider then? I've had similar things happen to me in the past.

well technically they would continue his subscription to the magazine anyway...

I had Insider and hated it, nothing their that you can't get free from your teams local newspapers. However, I have been tempted with ESPN's talented boxing writer Dan Rafael now featuring a blog on Insider but I doubt I'll go for it.

i do like the new layout better then the old. everytime i would go to the site on the old one i would get pop ups and only on ESPN. but of course they were being blocked but i could still pick up the sound.

I can't deal with the video on ESPN, and I'm too lazy to do anything about it. I check their site every 2-3 days, just briefly, but it's really annoying.

I don't care what they do with their layout until they make it so that video defaults to the off position.

i'm surprised espn isn't a pay site yet. hardly go there anymore, go to yahoo sports instead.
