Ironman idiot says Scotty O "not welcome" if convicted...

Featured Replies

Man, the irrational hatred of Samson some of you guys have is quite ridiculous. You'd think the guy was advocating the mass slaughter and consumption of babies, or something.

And how long do you say you have been a Marlin's fan? I would have a hard time myself choosing between Hitler and Samson

Then you're a f***ing moron.

Yea, I second that

Yeah, he should've kept his mouth shut on this. He didn't. Not an issue. He was asked a question, he answered it. Not the end of the world, guys.

Any reason to pounce on a guy we don't like, I guess..

ok, its not a huge problem. but he wasn't asked if olsen would be welcome even if he's convicted. he came up with all of that garbage by himself, pulling it out of Josh Willingham's ass. he wasn't asked because no one would ever believe the president of a team would hang a player out to dry like that. the bottom line is this moron continues to exhibit totally unprofessional behavior and needs to go before 08. maybe loria's daughter will divorce him!!

He's not married to Loria's daughter. He is the son of Loria's ex-wife.

hahahaha, what a little b*tch he is, :thumbup :thumbup :thumbup :thumbup :thumbup

Comments by Marlins President Draw Criticism

Samson's comments prompted Matt Sosnick, Olsen's agent, to direct a venomous tirade at the 39-year-old executive.

"Ask the Mariners how they feel about him," said Sosnick, referencing Samson's open criticism of that organization over the Ichiro Suzuki contract extension, comments he also made on his radio show. "David Samson is a joke in baseball, an absolute joke.

"Basically what he's saying is if Scott gets convicted of anything, and if Jeffrey and Admin don't support him, those guys are not moral guys who are condoning people being on the team that shouldn't be there. Once again it's him saying so little but sending such a great message, which he tends to do in most situations publicly."

Sosnick also took exception to Samson revealing Olsen was in behavioral therapy, saying it was no one's business except his client's. Reached via phone Thursday afternoon, Samson said: "I was only echoing what Scott has told the press himself."

Olsen hasn't spoken publicly about what, if any, treatment he is receiving. Sosnick disputed Samson's statement that Olsen was receiving therapy for anger management.

"We're letting the process take its course," Samson said. "We care about the player. He's been great in the community and done tremendous things in the offseason and we're happy he's getting the help he needs? I don't even understand what got Matt all riled up."

Samson went on to say that if Olsen is convicted of anything, "It would certainly be a conversation we would have to have. That's not news either."

Sosnick, who represents several other team members, including Dontrelle Willis, wouldn't have a problem if the Marlins cut loose his client.

"[samson] doesn't think he should be there?" Sosnick said. "Scott loves playing for Miami, but release him. You could release him at any time. Release him now and I'll beg one of the other 29 teams to take a left-handed pitcher who's 23 years old and 24 wins in his career, and throws 92 mph.

"There's no way he gets cut loose because it's a business and he's not a bad person. He's a wonderful guy who's had a very tough time and done some very stupid things? [samson] is a guy who has no pull except in his little office. He is a tiny, little miniscule fish in a small pond."

Samson on his radio segment said the odds would be "80-20" in favor of Loria and Beinfest overruling him were he to suggest jettisoning Olsen.

Samson has touched all kinds of nerves with comments on his radio show, the premise of which is reviewing movies. The Mariners were incensed over Samson's critical remarks about the Suzuki contract. Samson also has been chastised in the media for off-color content.

In addition, Samson openly feuded with former Miami City Manager Joe Arriola during negotiations for a new stadium. Sosnick's comments certainly possess an undertone of issues with Samson stemming beyond his Olsen statements.

The Marlins have been fair with Willis, Sosnick's highest-profile client, but they have not signed any of his young players to long-term deals. Willis also has pleaded not guilty to charges of driving under the influence stemming from a December arrest.

"If this is a case where it's like a battle between me and David, that has nothing to do with what this is," Sosnick said. "It has to do with the president of a baseball team saying something incredibly unkind and stupid to try to get shock value out of his nothing personality? It's not between me and David, it's between David and the world."

And Sampson sounds.....?

Thank You, Sosnick. It is imperative to appreciate any effort to attack Samson publicly.

I have never really liked Sosnick much, always thought he acts like a little kid who got lucky with Dontrelle.

Anyways, still can't stand Samson and yes we do deserve to jump on him for every little reason until he gets fired. He holds back us getting a new stadium(at least one of the reasons). Ask a politician in Dade County how they feel about that rat. The President of your team should not be a uniting force of hatred among the teams fans, opponents and the cities politicians.

I am officially nominating bobob1313 the president of the Loria Fan club with a total membership of 1

Sweet, now I'm ignoring 3 users on this board!

Get a life.

I wouldn't mind if David Samson took a vacation to Jamaica in the coming days. :whistle

Coming from someone who had family tortured by that f***ing piece of sh*t, you my friend are an ignorant f***.

I'll take a ban for that if i have too.

BTW: It's about time someone said something about this fool (Sosnick about Samson). It's about time Samson learned what his priorities are and calling his players out on Lebatard's show to impress Lebatard is not the way to get it done.

Comparing someone, anyone, to Adolf Hitler just makes you look like a moron. When you do it you demean yourself, your opponent, and you demean Hitler. He worked too long and hard to be that evil and it's unfair to have every moron compare him to someone they don't agree with.

But I do hate Samson.

I heard Samson make his remarks on LeBatard and what I took it to mean "Scott don't be a fool and let this wind up in court. Do whatever you have to get this reduced to a misdemeanor, do your community service, kiss some ass, hire the right lobbyist and lawyers and make this all go away. If you make a federal case out of it we aren't going to support you..."

That said, I happen to agree Samson should have said nothing on the subject and for that he is at fault but this to me is just more of the same old same old from the press. And where does his agent get off being holier than thou when his client is facing more than one felony charge? Jeez.

You know, as much as I hate Samson, it doesn't bother me at all. This is one thing that I agree with.

When asked if he thought it would improve relations if Samson apologized to Olsen, Sosnick replied: ``I don't think it would go as far as him having surgery and removing his mouth.''

:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

What does surprise me is that Dan, and all the others here commenting on Willis, have omitted. Jeff Allison. Need I say more on that?

I can say with pretty big certainty that Dan LeBatard probably has little to no clue who Jeff Allison is.

That said, can we at least get the full quote of what Samson said before he crucify the guy? I was listening to the show when Samson was on. Samson said that the decision of what to do with Scott Olsen is not completely in his hands to make, and that if he was convicted it would be for him, Beinfest, and Loria to decide. He said that if it was up to him and Olsen gets convicted, Olsen would be gone. However, Dan LeBatard said, "You know you're getting overruled in that situation David. Right?" and Samson agreed saying, "I'd say there's about an 80% chance I get overruled."

Let's take the comments for what their worth. A man stating how he'd make a decision he's not able to make on his own if he was able to make it on his own. I don't see much hypocrisy in that. If anything he seemed pretty consistent because he was also asked about the Michael Vick situation (LeBatard was asking all his guests) and whether Vick would play football again. Samson then went on to say that some owner would probably give him a second chance. He said it was an unfortunate aspect of sports that talent earns you second chances and that things shouldn't be that way.

We may disagree with the guy's opinion, but let's frame the discussion properly and not assume he's speaking on behalf of the entire organization. I mean, the guy comes on the LeBatard Show each week to talk about movies. Is it the official position of the Marlins that The Simpsons isn't funny? I certainly hope not.

I would take that bet on the Allison topic. A guy in the Marlins system with that much baggage is pretty well known to the local media types. At least I would hope so.

However, you make a good point in the rest of your post, even if I don't fully agree with you. He most certainly does have a right to his own opinions. But he has to realize that what he says publicly does reflect on the entire orginazation. Apparently he dosen't understand that. I will just continue to hope this guy gets fired. And/or gets help himself for a bad case of Small Man Syndrome.

Samson is a detriment to the franchise. Just look at the last 2 things he's done. Pissed off another team's owner in the Ichiro situation, and now creating tension between himself and the agent for Olsen, JJ, Dontrelle, Willy, Mitre, Nolasco, and others. Nothing good can come of this, only possible bad. But the agent from his words does direct his comments towards Samson, not the whole FO. The agent is just running interference for his client, and making some statements that I think 99.9% of the people who follow or are involved with the team say or know themselves. I hope one of the off-season moves is to kick Samson out. What a putz. If he's not let go then krazy glue his tongue to the roof of his mouth.

Samson-Sosnick dispute: Comments made by Marlins president David Samson on the radio recently have sparked some strong comeback remarks from agent Matt Sosnick.

On WAXY-AM in Miami on Wednesday, Samson was asked about pitcher Scott Olsen, a client of Sosnick.

Olsen was arrested on July 21 for driving under the influence and resisting an officer with violence.

On the radio, Samson divulged that Olsen "is in therapy, behavioral therapy, trying to deal with his anger issues."

At the time of Olsen's arrest, the team had no comment other than it would allow the legal process to take its course. Olsen has never told reporters that he is in therapy.

The team has been sensitive to players' medical issues all season.

"We were really surprised and disappointed at his decision to make comments about where Scott is in therapy and what type of therapy he is doing, and he was totally wrong," Sosnick told reporters.

Sosnick added that Samson has "proprietary information," that should not have been disclosed on the radio.

Generally speaking, Sosnick points out that MLB team presidents typically don't make headlines.

"If you ask most people who the president of the Yankees is, they don't know," Sosnick said. "What other president out there is making public statements than David?"

"I answer to one person, and that's [owner] Jeffrey Loria," Samson told The Associated Press.

Saturday night Scotty was doing some serious butt kissing. He was standing at the end of the dug out, right next to where Loria sits for almost the entire game. What was even funnier is that there was no sign of Tin Boy until just before Blues Traveler started playing. He was at the front of the crowd on the field because he had "loaned" his Championship Ring to the singer.

On another note... There was Randy Messenger on the other side of the field sporting a very nice cast on his left hand. And I just read he has admitted it wasn't a BP accident as originally reported. He punched a plastic equipment cart after a bad outing. Guess those carts are a bit harder than Scotty's face.

Le Batard asked Samson if Olsen had been making progress. Samson replied that Olsen is in therapy and is getting help. He explained that Scotty is a young kid and listed the usual excuses for why bad things happen (money, fame, etc). Then out of Josh Willingham's ass (more vivid than just saying left field), Samson pulls (paraphrasing), We're letting the legal process run its course but if convicted Scott won't be welcome with the team. He explained that the organization has a civic responsibility to field a team the community can be proud of (i.e. no criminal offenders). Le Batard told him that he's gotta be kidding and that Beinfest would overrule him. Samson acknowledged he doesn't make the final decision, and he will speak with both Loria and The Chosen One, but that if the decision were up to him, he said Olsen would be gone, upon conviction. Numerous times.

This guy just continues to leave me speechless (except what I'm writing here). No wonder Le Batard has him on every week. He comes on spewing ridiculous, headline-making, self-righteous nonsense that no one else would ever dare say. This was probably the most unprofessional thing I've ever heard from the PRESIDENT of a sports team (of course the only competition being Samson's Ichiro tirade). Forget about the idea of just ridding the team of Olsen's talent and denying him the continued help he needs. How can you go on the radio and speak about a player in your organization like this? What an outpouring of support. Telling Scotty O he's a lame duck pitcher will surely help him keep his composure.

I guarantee The Chosen One has spent more than one sleepless night thinking about how much he hates David Samson.

I apologize for digging this thread up a little, but just an observation... why does Florida have so many retarded sports talkers? I mean, up here in Orlando, I'm trapped with Dan Sileo. :banghead
