August 19, 200718 yr I can't even imagine the size of the contract he is going to get next year when he is a UFA. The numbers I can throw out there will make me sound like a fool, but I think they will be close to reality.

The numbers I can throw out there will make me sound like a fool, but I think they will be close to reality. Eh, I dunno. The annual amount will be insane, but I can't see a team giving a pitcher a 10 year deal, especially after the Brown and Hampton fiascos, and that a 10 year deal for Johan would take him to 40.
August 19, 200718 yr I think he is going to be traded in the off-season when Minnesota is unable to work out an extension.
August 19, 200718 yr That was totally rockin' by Santana. No walks, either. Retired 24 of 26 batters, 17 for K's. The funny thing I thought was that both his hits were to Sammy Sosa. Quite possibly, no Sammy, No-hitter. Sammy Sosa totally owns Johan Santana.
August 20, 200718 yr he'll get at least $200 million when he's a fa I dunno how likely it is that he will get a 10-year contract, but he should clear $20-25M easy.
August 20, 200718 yr It's almost just not fair to the other team when Santana is pitching anymore. It's insane how good he is.
August 20, 200718 yr It's almost just not fair to the other team when Santana is pitching anymore. It's insane how good he is. Almost. He's the once-in-a-generation pitcher. He's the reason why we'll see 300-game winners in the future.

He's the reason why we'll see 300-game winners in the future. He's pretty far from 300 right now. He'll need to pitch for much better teams to sniff at that number. 91 wins in 8 years? He'll pretty much need 10 20 win seasons in a row or pitch into his mid 40's to hit that number. Not impossible - but not likely with the Twins.

He'll pretty much need 10 20 win seasons in a row or pitch into his mid 40's to hit that number. Not impossible - but not likely with the Twins. The past three years he's 20, 16 and 19. This year he's a dead lock to get at least 16 again, and likely to get more. And he probably will pitch into his 40s, as most great pitchers do as of late. (See: Nolan Ryan, Greg Maddux, Roger Clemens, Randy Johnson, Curt Schilling, Tom Glavine, and to a lesser extent David Wells, Tim Wakefield and Kenny Rogers.)
March 25, 200818 yr It was destiny. Marlins/Mets - 4:10 PM EST Monday. It's baaaaaaaaaaack. Destiny is a team losing a insurmountable lead, choking it's way to a seemingly impossible collapse to miss the playoffs . Opening up against the team who knocked you out of the playoffs is merely a coincidence :cool
