October 1, 200718 yr What do you think the weirdest way to end a game would be? This actually came very close to happening in one of my games a month ago. Walk-off Wild Intentional walk. (Runners on 2nd and 3rd, Intentional walk, pitcher throws the ball wild.)

For me, though, in the terms of something more common and not an instance where the catcher has an aneurysm or something, I'd go with the walk off balk. Because balks aren't a common event, especially with relievers working almost exclusively from the stretch, and given how seldom you see a throw to third base from the pitcher, it's almost impossible to imagine a "common" balk to third that represents the winning run.

Only way to to nullify the run is if you appeal and the runner on 3rd left early (in theory a quadruple play). If the runner didn't leave early he scores and the game is over. This HAS happened before. Atleast once in the majors and once in Cuban baseball.

That was awesome, the crowd went crazy while being confused as hell. Don't forget that he was walked with two outs, and then a wild pitch to get him over to second in the first place. AND it was in extra innings. Awesome.

October 2, 200718 yr How hard is it to believe that it's happened before? We of little faith..... I'm going for a crazy twist on an old school classic - the run off inside the park homer. Imagine Game 7 of a World Series being decided on an inside the parker with a play at the plate. That'd be the best ending ever in my book.

On the other end, what about if there was a runner on first and the batter was going for an inside the parker and the throw to the plate got both runners out (I think it was Carlton Fisk). Now that would be a horrible way to lose the game!
October 3, 200718 yr A tie. Thanks Bud! Back in the days of no lights, it happened. There was actually a 5 game world series in which the winning team went 4-0-1 due to darkness (I'd find it but don't feel like it right now).

So until you appeal it and fail or decide not to appeal it the triple play works and the game is not over.
