Bring Pudge back!

Featured Replies

I already said this was a great idea. For the right price, we need him. It should be noted the catcher position is not a traditional position for offense but to manage the pitching staff he can definitely still do that. If his bat gets better (after being back home) that is a plus. So let's go for it.

Miguel Olivo sucks behind the plate and sucks with the bat.

Pudge Rodriguez is among the best defensive catchers of all time (and many argue he still is), and he's still good with the bat.

(.294 OBP is still better than Olivo's .262, and his BA is over 40 points higher.)

for the money Pudge will get from somewhere else, he is not worth it.

$2-4mil, hell yea.... but we know Pudge would rather retire than take that

and he'll want a multiyear deal too

That's because Olivo sucks. Just because his OBP sucks, doesn't mean Pudge's is good.

I would give him a one year and 4-6. He would probably get 7-8

As much as I respect Pudge and what he did for our team in 2003, I'll pass on this one.

that's quite the price

DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers decided Ivan Rodriguez was worth another $13 million.

Detroit exercised an option Tuesday on the All-Star catcher's contract, retaining him for a fifth season at a hefty price.

The Tigers could have bought him out of the last year of his deal for $3 million, but they didn't like the prospect of not having Rodriguez behind the plate in 2008.

I was all for bringing him back as you all know... However, like we all pretty much agreed on, there was no way we would want him back at that Price! 13 Mill... Och! Goes to show you though that Pudge is vital for the Det. pitching staff.. If not they would not have paid him that money..

Indian givers.

As far as a "celebrity" pick Id much rather put Barry in LF than bring Pudge in. I love Pudge and the play at the plate with JT Snow is my greatest live sports memory but c'mon.

Well the Tigers technally payed him 10 mill because they would have had to pay him 3 mill either way. And the 10 mill is probably just a bit more than he would have gotten as a free agent.
