October 10, 200718 yr http://www.greenexpander.com/2007/10/01/th...s-in-the-world/ I found it rather sad to see and read as most are due to our own (as a world) growth and overpopulation. :banghead please no Left vs Right debate for once?
October 13, 200718 yr From a purely evolutionary point of view, these are less successful species than those that prosper due to human presence.
October 13, 200718 yr Wow, some of those animals are almost are endangered as your grammar. hehe doh! I say that and use "are almost are". Dammit, I give up typing for the rest of the night.
October 13, 200718 yr Where is the Florida Panther? Aren't there fewer than 50 left? Perhaps 50 pure genetic Panthers left. They've been better off as of late as a result of the breeding with the Texan Panther.
October 13, 200718 yr Where is the Florida Panther? Aren't there fewer than 50 left? Perhaps 50 pure genetic Panthers left. They've been better off as of late as a result of the breeding with the Texan Panther. Florida Panther is an example of an invented animal, basically take a species (in this case Puma concolor couguar).) and then identify it as a distinct animal due to habitat. An effort to categorize it as a subspecies was successful for some time, but lately it has been removed from such status by the Mammal Species of the World, the canonical authority on such things. Basically they are breeding them with other couguars, and the population is recovering.
October 13, 200718 yr Wow, some of those animals are almost as endangered as your grammar. or your sweaty male breasted sex life. Extinction happens, they're more species of animals now than their were a short time ago so were improving. Extinction has to happen and right now it's a better situation than previous times. Of course, its sad but neccesary
October 13, 200718 yr I think that the number is 99.9% of all species ever to exist have gone extinct. This happened regardless of human behavior in the past.
October 13, 200718 yr I think the problem comes in when extinction happens at a higher rate than is normal or sustainable for the populations on Earth.
October 14, 200718 yr Extinction has to happen? For what to occur? already mentioned survival of the fittest. Look back at past history, if every animal survived this planet would be dead know by the lack of resources and thus their would be no need for this discussion.
October 15, 200718 yr Extinction has to happen? For what to occur? Darwinism? guess I walked right into that one. :lol Just meant that it doesn't mean we should necessarily sit back & let species go extinct either.
October 15, 200718 yr I think the reality is, some species are doomed to eventual extinction. However, it's clear that human progress has accelerated this process.
October 15, 200718 yr While of course, its not a reason to celebrate about some of these extinctions and yes many of them are of our doing we still at the same time cant throw all resources behind it and sometime have to accept these things as they happen. We forget we ourselves are just another species eliminating another species
